what they said but stick it in gear first - then it won't roll forward just as you're getting it upright, causing it to fall on the floor again!

It's not a question of size - it's all about technique.
Never needed to lift my own bike, but I did lift a plod full-dress Pan European on a Bikesafe course once I'd been shown how to do it properly. |

And if its fallen the 'wrong way', put the sidestand down first otherwise it gets a but tricky, unless you can hold it upright and hop on. And then be careful as you rest it down on the sidestand from the 'wrong' side otherwise it might fall over the other way. Which, granted, will then be easier to sort out

when ive dropped mine, ive lifted it no problem with all the adrenaline.
the health and saftey way is as follows stand with your back to the bike, bend down using your knee's so that you can hold one handlebar with both hands behind your back, hold the handlebar tight using both hands, then stand up with your knee,s its really easy once you get it right, you will be able to pick up bikes all day. |

I dropped my thou on Sunday at a rather greasy junction, just as everybody else disappeared off up the road at a great rate of knots
![]() Sheer adrenalin overcame a dodgy knee and I managed to get the bugger upright by basically heaving on the bar nearest the ground. I then managed to lean over the saddle and put the sidestand down by hand. I'm not sure if this is the recommended way, but it seemed to work OK for me I shall try hard not to repeat the experience ![]() |

Normally I just think "Crap" and pick it up quickly without thinking and ride off, so people don't point at laugh at me for dropping the bike.
Thinking about it I use Dan's holding technique and lift with my leg strength, I'm a light shortarse so physique has nothing to do with picking the bike up. |

I just blubbed a bit and looked helpless - once on my CBT - the instructor picked up the 125 for me, and once on my bandit my IAM observer picked it up while I tried to look like I was helping
