Woz looking for a SV1000 for Kamakazy to trade her 650 in and almost got our hands on a special edition in gsxr colours etc, mint con and well affordable. Long story short - dealer had already sold it!
We didn't even try it out assuming that all but handling etc would be pretty much sim to 650. Definitely has a better build. Went back to try and find another and came across a GSXR 1000. Suited Kam so bought it (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=91949). Whilst there a silver SV1000s had come in so we tried it out with a view of PE the Daytona then swapping bikes afterwards as I'm not so keen on it and would rather have the Daytona). SV1000 was much higher and Kam could barely tip toe and it felt heavy. I thought it was just a bigger 650 but now don't think so, of course its heavier, but its also higher and is much better build quality but I wasn't impressed. (The gixer M is awesome though so no regrets!) Last edited by skint; 24-06-07 at 12:10 PM. |

Just got back from Millenium in St Helens and had a sit on 1000, could just about move it on tip toes so enquired about getting it lowered a couple of inches, be about £300 so thinking more along the lines of lower seat, its all a bit academic at the mo til things settle down at work. V tempted though !

The thou can still be hustled almost like the 650 if you set it up right. I have a really short inside leg but I'm fine with the seat height on the SZ (K5) that I have. You soon get used to the greater input required and like other have said, the benefit of much better brakes and suspension is really noticeable. The stomp is fantastic. Darren Run a ‘Word’ window along side your .org session and type your long post into that. It gets spell checked as you write (essential for me) and then just cut & paste into your reply box. Alan

Im only short too but use the sidestand loop to get on the bike. Once Im on it I find it ok and can get both feet on the floor when Ive compressed the suspension. That is helped by lots of pies and Guinness
