If 3 figures is what your riding buddies are regularly doing during every ride, I suggest you change your buddies, not your bike!! ... sustained/perpetual 3 figures isn't a good idea ... if for no other reason than your running high risk of loosing your license

The SV is good like that, it WILL do over a ton, but it lets you know you are doing it ...

well it was only on national speed limit roads, and with no cars around, so it was safe....ish. when it came to towns or cars, we did slow down of coarse.
still undecided about weather or not to get a twin 1000, or an inline 4. damn it i hate these decisions. if i had my way i would get both.

I think there are many opportunities when breaking the speed limits isn’t necessarily hugely 'dangerous' ... but I'd like to see how successful you would be taking that line with the rozz when caught at 100+mph!!!!

Like I said, if you value your licence, change your riding partners, not your bike

Anyway, how about a triple?!?!?! Triumph do some nice looking bikes now!!

i had a go on my mates busa this weekend and 130 felt like 70 on my sv, and if youve got roads like what we have over the moors up north can see why your looking at a thou we have a run called the denshaw run and your not often under a ton on it plenty of room and no laybyes for the fuzz to hide in besides there all too slow until you get on the A65 where the skoobies are

I went from a SV650s to a VTR 1000. Oh my word what a difference. you can still chuck the VTR around into corners but its alot more stable and well balanced.
The power difference is amazing. The onl down side is that at sub 30 mph in towns etc the VTR doesnt like it to much, its a constant first to second and then back but other than that, for me, it has been a good move

I have had quite a lot of experience with the Firestorm too. Sorry Viper, I have to strongly disagree with the above.
I believe an SV is more than a match for a Firestorm through the twisties, and whilst undoubtably the Firestorm is quicker, the difference is not that massive. Certainly not another 4 groups on the insurance difference.
Granted that the build is better on the Honda though.

I suppose its all down to rider preferance. I find it to be just as agile as my SV but others may not, riding style and speed into/out off corners etc are bound to differ from rider to rider and bike to bike and rider to bike and son on. I know people who can do things on an SV that i could never do but on the firestorm i can match and beat them in the twisties (not that its a competition).
I think the phrase EACH TO THEIR OWN will cover this.

I agree each to their own. I like Firestorms, but still have to disagree that a standard Firestorm generally corners as well as a standard SV. You will probably notice the extra 'stomp' out of corners, but the SV is far more agile imo, and that of my Firestorm owning mate.

Maybe I can offer some assitance. I've got a 600cc bike at the mo, I then went out and bought a 1000cc naked bike as it looked great and I thought "ooh bigger cc = more fun". While I did enjoy the extra oomph what I really missed was the nimbleness of the lighter 600 bike. So much so that I sold the Z1000 a month or so later and I still have my 600. Like you said, how much do you need for the road anyway. Most poeple only have the large cc bikes for bragging rights (ooh sweeping statement time)!
