I assume all of you that took the foam off have desnorkled it as well or have free flowing filters. Anyone ride without foam and/or with tank risers in heavy rain? I commute on my SV in Dublin and get my share of torrential rain pounding me, plus it's a naked SV ('99). Just curious if anyone notices water getting sucked in and messing with your combustion. Or better yet if anyone really notices the extra airflow from the lifted tank and de-foaming.

Cheers -Dave

I suppose getting rid of the foam isn't neccessary if you have a snorkel...

No probs with weather... I've done other breathing mods so I don't know what comes from spacers, if any, but other people have dynoed it to test and found a small difference along with a more open filter. It's one of those things where, if you're rejetting anyway you might as well.

Roger that, that's why I desnorkeled, rejetted with 4£ new mains and am now considering the defoam/tank raise. Cost me practically nothing. Just that with heavy rain, the water could get in pretty easy into the box and maybe start fouling carbueration. No experience with open airbox and raised tank in heavy rain? anyone ?

Cheers -D

Like I say, no problems at all. The actual airflow is pretty low, after all. If you've got fine spray, I suppose it'd be more likely to draw that in, but I've never noticed any disadvantage.
