I haven't a clue what went on that brass spigot before, I presumed it was a rubber plug like the other one visible.

Either way, the Scottoiler works fine and the bike runs ok too, so I'm not bothered.
I assume it's the same - I have 2 spigots on both the front and rear cylinder, with a spare one on each. The other is utilised - has a tube running from both. Cant tell you where they go, so dont know what theyre for, but it looks as tho one of these tubes has been removed for your scottoiler... who knows!

I'll pull my tank up tomorrow and have a look for the missing tube. A friend close by has an SV of the same year, so I may pop round and have a look at hers tomorrow too.

Thanks

I swopped my fuel tank for my ex's one today and while I was at it I checked out the vacuum connection on hers. She's plugged hers into the brass spigot that has the bung on in my shot, and the other spigot still has just a bung on. Apparently both are vacuum connections and neither had a pipe connected.

Maybe I might have been mistaken then... I'm sure I saw a pipe coming out of one on each cylinder... I'll probs have a check later!

Hi guys...

I fitted my scottoiler (finally)... and took my bike out for a 30mile spin to hopefully get the thing rolling... I set the RMV to 2 i think.... and absolutely sod all came out!

I've set it to 5 now for the next run... but is there anything I might have done or am doing wrong?

Cheers

There was oil all the way as far as my dual applicator last night... I spent about 10 minutes blowing the breather to make sure the oil went the whole way! (the RMV was on prime setting so I figured this would be fine)

I dont think I broke the RMV doing this... I could see the valve opening and closing very easily... but I think the tube is narrow in the applicator... so my lungs werent strong enough to push it any further!

Applicators blocked then if you can't blow it through on prime. Take it off and slide a bit of fine wire or a needle into it.

Compressed air down the applicator would be better, (NOT into the RMV though, would probably turn it into a messy grenade!) or alternatively, I'll give you a bit of brass tube and you can make a proper delivery tube!

I'll try the fine wire trick tomorrow!

And I spent far too long tapping the swing arm to ditch the dual applicator so quickly!

The pursuit of perfection can sometimes be in vain!

If you're using the Scotty blue oil you'll probably need it somewhere round 5 in this weather.

Try setting it high and do a short ride (a few minutes) and see what happens.

It should drip out on prime without the engine running.
