In a way, Yes. The certificate is proof of 33bhp to the police and a court, if it states the bike most remain standard then that is the legal statement of the certificate.

Slip/bolt on cans are not performance enhancing exhausts on an SV.

Going back to my previous thread about having a dyno printout...

Only if you have another reading from a second run which can prove the first is inaccurate, i.e getting one below 33bhp!
... this is the only way a court will except that your bike is running at 33bhp or less, the court will not except dyno error as an excuse even though they over read slightly. Sorry chaps.

The best thing to do is have a certificate and a dyno read out (less than 33bhp), this info came from my neighbour who is a high ranking traffic cop.

Update: You need a certificate to produce to a court!

Not really, all it says is that a restrictor kit was fitted at some point.

What law says you need one?

A pompous legal system in court, not exactly a law we know about but they need a copy for the court record and failure to produce isn't a good option. Paul, my neighbour, has recently been involved in such a case. An R6 owner was caught speeding at 142mph on a restricted licence, they guy removed the restrictor obviously.

But if he could have produced a certificate in that case, then what?

I very much doubt they'd take you to court just over not having a certificate if you've a dyno printout of <33bhp, unless you're caught at +100mph speeds or other such silliness.

No what I am saying is if you ever have to go to court you will need a certificate, the old bill aren't to fussed but you have to produce a certificate to a court!
