Yep Stu, share please.

BTW, I can confirm that it works just fine without the breather pipe.

Also whats the optimum drip rate? I have read that one drop every 50 seconds at idle is about right.

One final question, whats the best non Scottoiler substance to lube your chain with? Again I've read that used engine oil is good but would be interested in any opinions!

Cheers

Gordon

Well it sounds like you're doing it right already
But for the avoidance of doubt, how I do it is:
Remove the breather tube but leave the rubber in place. (So Jamaxx is already ahead of the game here )
Set the Scotty to prime
Connect the top-up bottle to the breather rubber, keeping it upright & squeeze air into the Scotty. you may want to put something to catch the oil by your rear sprocket. Return the gauge to what you want.
Simples

Flow rate is just a case of trial & error - too much fling turn it down, chain too dry turn it up

Now that's a real secret way. Ty very much, although with that amount flowing through I'd rather not ride on it thanks.

Why? I've done it like Hovis a number of times. my problem is usually I forget to turn it down again & the whole thing's empty again & I'm no better off

oh and i think mr scottoiler says 2 drips a minuite......... but i like to have 1 drip per minute, this way it lasts twice as long.

and the chain is still oily so i guess its ok?

I'm really silly when it comes to oily substances near my tyre.

And yeah 1-2 drops is fine. Obv 2 is better but lasts less long, and 1 is less good but lasts twice as long.
