just thought i'd ressurect this thread rather than start a new one.
Kitkats daughter is going to be learning to drive in the not so distant future so thought she'd get some quotes to drive kitkats car... the cheapest quote was about £1400 and the most expensive was about £11,000 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() you may be asking at this point what kitkats car is? Well it's a 2004 Suzuki Alto with a 1.1 engine. Yet doing a quote on my car comes up with quotes about £1200 and the most expensive was only £3000 and that's for a 2000 ford galaxy with a 2.3 engine. All those quotes are for TPFT I really don't get insurance ![]() ![]()

I am stunned at some of these prices - my eldest lad starts driving in 3 years time and i thought i'd only have to pay about 700-800 quid for insurance !!!! I best be re-thinking !

One of the reasons for not finishing learning to drive was the daunting insurance quotes.
For example, at 30 years old(after passing a hypothetical test) some clapped out old Nissan granny Micra or a Ford Ka it was going to cost me over 1000 quid TPFT, and that was taking into consideration the amount of yrs no claims I had on the bike. I was told that after a year of driving the premium would drop considerably. It is a joke. Then you wonder why i gave up, especially having such cheap insurance on the bikes fully comp.

You can see why youngsters take a risk and dont bother with insurance. Especially when the likely fine is less than the premium they've not paid...
My first car was £300 worth of Mini, my TPO insurance was £300 ish, I remember thinking that it was daft that the insurance was the same as the value of the car... and that was when I was 18...

![]() I don't see how I got ripped off? My insurance is lower this year than it was last year and that's with 9 points on my licence and business use
