Alright...
Got the vacuum tube connected up without too much bother. Now I'm just deciding where to mount the reservoir. If I mount it, using the bracket, next to the pillion seat lock, then the reservoir will be complete horizontal, meaning that only half it's content will be useful. That basically means it's got to be on the frame, and I'm inclined to go for Squid's suggestion - out of sight but easily reached. If I mount inside the luggage compartment, the rotation of the adjustment knob can be blocked. So... piccies of your delivery pipes please! I'm sure most of you have nothing better to do tomorrow ![]()

You don't want to have it totally horizontal, mine used to be like that and it often took on air and had to be reprimed... Got it vertical under the LHS side panel, IMHO the best place on the curvy bike but I don't know if it'd fit as well on the jaggy one. Somewhere it's easy to get at! I used to have it under the rider's seat for a while, that was really rubbish. Before that it was in the underseat storage, but that was fiddly too.

Fitted a scott oiler to mine just last week. I have the resevoir under the pillion seat. It sits at about 60 degrees, and have it set on number 7. Can't see anywhere where it could be mounted vertical. As I have done zero miles since it was fitted, is number 7 a good start point

I've got mine set on 4 with blue scottoil. You want only enough to keep the chain slightly oily, not wet, I belive. You'll just get excess fling otherwise.
Saying that its probably better to have too much than too little. Also bare in mind that thicker oil, cold, and/or rain will mean you'll want to increase the setting. |

Got mine set on 4 seems to to do the trick
i.e. it oils the chain and not the rear wheel ![]()

Any other suggestions as to where to place the Reservoir on the SK4?

Right,
I managed to fit it this afternoon! YAY! ![]() Managed to mount the reservoir under the pilion seat using the funky wedge-shaped bracket glued to the frame. I do unfortunately still need to sort out a more permanent solution to the delivery tube...at the moment it is just cable-tied to the swingarm at the moment with the tube running up behind the footpeg rearset in behind the grey plastic cover and then under the seat. The vacuum was a bit tricky...you need small nimble fingers to get in there...or be really good with long-nose pliers! ![]() I'll let you all know if it works tomorrow(weather dependant) ![]() |
