How much is it overfilled by? A friend ofmine lost his car engine because of overfilling - but that was by a serious amount. (3+ liters)

As for the only half the window I'd check against the max/min markers on the engine next to the glass. If it's not to the max then complain agian loudly.

noufy, overfilled mine once (easily done) but removed excess oil straight away by gently unscrewing oil filter..as previuosly stated.. so level dropped in viewing glass. too much oil will cause internal problems mate.

I think you need to be a bit more sure about how much was in it, and how much is in there now, to be honest. But if you think it's low, DON'T RIDE IT!

If you have lost that much oil in 3 days... Well, it'd depend on how many miles, if you'd done a Nick Sanders then that'd be less worrying... You're either leaking a lot, burning a lot, or both. Leaks, you should notice. If you've burned a litre or more of oil in a few hundred miles, then you ought to be able to see it in the exhaust- smoky. Exactly what would cause it, I don't want to say- don't know for sure. But I'd think bad piston rings, or damaged piston or bore, if it's that bad.

Does it usually lose oil?
I cant be sure, but I will check tomorrow morning. Its not burning excessivly, theres hardly any smoke, only in the morning when it's cold. Running fine, no leakage. I just thought it looked low again last time I looked, might have been that I wasnt looking right, as I hate leaning the bike over (havn't got a paddock stand.) Will get someone to hold it up I think, or lean it against the wall tomorrow morning.

If you're worried about checking it, here's some tricks to make it safer... Bungee or otherwise tie the tip of the siedstand to something solid on the frame- crash bugs are good. Stops it popping up. Put the bike in gear. You can also put something under the sidestand to bring it closer to horizontal to reduce the amount of muscle involved, if you want- but make sure it's big enough that the stand'll definately land back on it.

Now, Go around to the right hand side, crouch or kneel down beside the bike so you can see the glass, and pull it towards you- I use the bars, but you can use anything really. it's all about balance, not strength, but unless you're really clumsy the bike won't fall on you- it takes a while to go past the balance point, and it'll be no problem at all to keep it upright even if it does, as long as you don't let it fall too far. If it falls away from you, the stand's fixed in place so it won't go far.

The bike will just about balance when it's in the right position... You don't need to be too precise, but I literally have it at the point where I can balance it with one finger. This would be a less good idea with a Rocket 3

When you're done, lower it back onto the stand gently- you don't need to push it back, just let it slowly overbalance away from you and support the weight as it goes back down.
