Update for those who might find this useful info. ebike have now raised my renewal price on the assumption that the accident was my fault. Apparently thats standard procedure for claims ongoing at time of renewal. Once it is agreed that the other party was at fault then the claim is scrubbed from my record and I get the difference in renewal price refunded.

If the insurer gets all their costs paid for by the insurer of the person who hit you (which they will if they prove other party is at fault) then you keep your NCD.

![]() 'Fraid this is all standard practice yes goes down as a fault claim untill it's sorted. See if you can pay by installments and it gets sorted and adjusted before you've paid it all anyway?

Apparently my bike has been classed a cat D right off, uneconomical to repair. Fairings, mirror and exhaust were scratched, the repairers quoted the insurers to replace most of those which meant repair bill over £1500. Seems they don't value my bike quite as highly I do and that is over 60% of the total value so the bike is written off.
I can buy the bike off them for a salvage fee, they pay me the fair value pre-accident. Anyone any idea what they will give me for a SV650S K3 with 10K on clock and ok nick? And any one know what I have to pay them to get the bike back for salvage?

Apparently salvage value is 40%, or at least thats what I have to pay. Apparently some salvage places pay even more, up to 47%.
![]() So basically I get paid 60% of what the insurers think the bike is worth, whatever is left after I fix the bike up (which shouldn't cost too much) is mine, basically to make up for the fact that the bike is now a beat up wreck and will be near impossible to sell on given its state and the Cat D write off against its history. ![]()

so their pre accident value is <= £2500 or they wouldn't have w/o for £1500 repair cost.
So they will pay you <= £1500 and let you keep the bike ![]() ![]() ![]() I say result! - Injuries aside of course Shouldn't cost you nearly that to repair and I wouldn't worry about class D esp. if you plan to keep it a while. I don't think you would get much more than £2500 Pre accident, but don't let them go any lower, i.e. hold out for the £1500 cash in hand. I paid 67% for salvage on eBay - I think I got a good deal. Bite their hand off if they only want you to pay 40%. |

Yep, they value the bike at £2,500, which is low. They seem to be open to negotiation so I'll be arguing for more like £3,000. My local dealer has almost the same bike on sale for 3K so I might get somewhere near that. So I come out of this with £1800, reckon I can get her back on the road for £300 (parts + paperwork) so I have made a bit (and I am not injured) but bike has lost loads of value as a right off and I have mucho scratches and the like to live with. Ho hum. Back on the road next week hopefully.....
