doesn't really matter anyway because we saw the cat off and throw it up the loft

another useless bit of info, if you scrap a car keep the catalytic converter because to a scrap metal yard its worth about £30 or if you have to have a cat replaced keep the old one and weigh it in.

It's quite true, just having one misfiring engine episode can shag your cat.

Got up this morning, jump leads at the ready but thought I'd give it a wee go it first. Started no problem! Charged itself overnight

I'm planning on using my bike over the winter most weekends, (weather permitting!) so looking for advise on when/how often to use the Optimate?

IIRC you only really need to optimate if you're storing the bike for a couple of weeks or more, and you've got an alarm. I don't really know tho as I ride all year round so never lose enough charge!

If you park in a garage use the optimate fly lead and just plug it in whenever the bikes going to be left overnight or any longer. The optimate takes care of the battery for you and takes any guesswork out of charging.

My bike has an alarm and although it has a setting for 'Winter' this almost defeats the object of the alarm, imobiliser, a week should be fine without charge, although a couple of weeks may be a different matter in the cold.

Its already been statedabove, connect the fly lead to the battery of the bike then just plug in the Optimate and itle keep the battery on a charge, slight discharge cycle. You should be able to leave the things connected all thie time when stored. Just remember to disconnect it before riding off
