Mine's a total mix... Most is function and price over appearance- my winter gear is a mixed bag of brands and looks, with a tasteful covering of road filth, and my spare leathers are a tatty pair of Frank Thomas Strikes, not all that nice to look at even before I crashed in 'em... But my summer leathers are a Furygan jacket that I more or less fell in love with the look of, and a pair of HG trousers chosen to match it. Both very functional, fully armoured, well made etc, but I chose them over the competition because I love how they look.
I'd never get bike gear that looks good but that doesn't work well, though. So we can look forward to you attending the AR wearing... Oh, no, wait, that could get me in trouble if I finish that sentance...

Well- I went for budget/functional for 'My First Biker Gear'- ie mostly made by Buffalo (must be- it's written over every available space on the jacket!). It's done well in my off as didn't come off too bad- only the zip at the bottom of one leg where I landed and the zip on the inner lining of the trousers (I wear combats under these anyway and have hiking thermals, so well covered).
However, I always feel a little out of place turning up at Rykers on my nice yellow, sporty looking bike and my very courier looking gear! I'd like to get something a little more stylish in the future- esp a set of race leathers (the buffalo kit's not that aerodynamic!). But it can wait until after I replace the fairing etc... Nice stuff does tend to get rather pricey... |

I'll second that! I think you still need to look feminin (can't be spelt right but you know what I mean!). Even though it can be difficult, becuase obviously safety is the most important. I am proud of my bike, and I want to look good on it, is that being a tart then? ![]() |

when I bought my Dainese jacket, I went for a red one (despite my SV then being copper) because I thought it looked best

I guess I'm a special case as I knew my biking days were numbered, so one Saturday afternooon I went out and spent £2.5k on more kit for me and major-league trickery for my beloved SV. I enjoyed every second of it whilst it lasted, and all the bits lived on, bringing coolness to a couple of other SVs.
Oh yeah, and I bought a silver sports car to match my bike! |

I have Dainese leathers for the summer, and they do kind of match the bike...............well, bits of them do
![]() I have fabric gear for the winter. A Frank Thomas goretex jacket, and some trousers I got from Baby Biker. ![]() I have Sidi Black rain boots which I wear all year round. I got them for the bargain price of £50 as they were a small size and the shop just hadn't been able to sell them. ![]() The only crash helmet I have ever found to fit me properly is the Shoei XXS, but it's a helmet I am very happy with, even if it doesn't match the bike. ![]() I don't really care if things match or not. I'm more concerned with how well they will perform if I ever need them to protect me in an off.
