As well as the fender extenda and silicone grease, I made a small aluminium shield which fixes on the two fan bolts and effectively closes off the gap between the rad and cyliunder head, plus there's a small extension tab going up behind the rad in front of the plug.

Belt, braces and sticky tape, me!

As an aside, does one have to be careful to avoid cutting down airflow to the cylinder though?

No, as long as you don't blank off significant areas of the rad. The pic seems to have disappeared, but the shield I made just closed the gap between the rad and cylinder head along the bottom to prevent water being splashed up behind the rad. It also has a small tab bent up to shield the plug cap itself from water going through the rad but I'm not sure whether that's essential or particularly effective. It all works though.

Can we not fit these to the Sv then, being the same lump'n all?

Never happy you, if someone had started a new thread you'd say "Use the search"
