Default Re: feminism according to me...

I've never been a 'girly' girl, played football, cricket, climbed trees (in fact I once spent 36 hours up a tree until my parents agreed NOT to make me be a bridesmaid) and had mostly lads as mates growing up. I did ride horses, but living at a racing stables it was hard not too

I drank pints when I was still a drinker, have never knitted anything in my life, and work in a mostly male environment.

Am I a rampant feminist? No. I don't shout if men are courteous enough to hold a door open for me, I don't get all arsey if they call me 'my dear' or 'my love', and I don't think all women should be bra-burning, hairy-legged amazons. I think women should be who they are happy being, and if that's all fluffy and pink that's fine by me.

Aren't ALL professional jockeys men? ... but as a hobby, it has to be even more girl orientated than bike are boy orientated!? Lets put it this way I don't know of a single male that has horse riding as a hobby ...

I hate girly girls, which are about 99% of the female population. So well done LaMon and any others on here for not being afraid of saying no to stupid high heels, Hello magazine and vacuous conversations about hair and makeup! I appreciate it if noone else does

So Mon - or any of the female variety on here - who has been prevented from doing what BECAUSE they're female?

And to be fair how many of the male sort have been prevented from doing what they want (possibly childcare?) BECAUSE they're male?

As Bem (1975) said Androgeny is the most psychologically healthy way to be - that is equal parts (in terms of behaviour, personality, traits etc, and not biology) of masculine and feminine and gender neutral traits.

Just my tuppence worth

I can't believe I'm goign to say this...

... but...

... Blue...

... is...

... right.

I think I feel a bit queasy now.

Overall demographics of the equine industry are of a female bias, though incommon with business, the upper grades (i.e. high level competition) the bias swings towards men.

Oh dear, you wouldn't like me then, I drink pints....belch so loud it would make a bloke feel un bloke like, fart like a bloke, do bob the builder type projects, have been dabbling in the bike mechanic thing( apparently theres something nice about oil covered ladies)

Oh and I'll think you'll find theres rather a lot of profeesional lady jockeys....I know cause me dad watches too much horse racing.
I do all things bloke, my brain is more bloke inclined, but on the other hand I can be all girly....just not very often and only when needed, particulary when my toyboy needs me.....because i've got one of those too

Maybe its not that i'm a blokey bird, its just that I'm confident to tackle stuff only blokes would do and I certainly am very headstrong and know exactly what I want or need to do
