Thats because they design them with the scantily clad ladies in mind, that they drape over them at shows and in mags, that are so tiny you could pack em in a tailpack if you really wanted ![]()

I have only just started taking Katie pillion and Im thinking of the grippy seat. When ever I brake I can fell her slide forward even though she is holding the grab rail. I think the love handles are more of a comfort/confidence thing for the pillion, Katie wants some just to feel safe that shes holding on to me.
I havent ridden pillion for years but when I did I rarely used the grab rail once I was confident that i wasnt gonna fall off evertime the rider accererated or braked |

You don't feel a pillion against you as much when you use love handles, you've got the strap of course but no arms, etc wrapped around you...
If you are moving around enough that this impedes you, you probably want your pillion to be doing the same, I'm not sure you want to get your knee down while your pillion is sat bolt upright on the pillion seat... |

I would have thought love handles would be even more annoying than arms around waist if you don't like that sort of thing? Are you not perpetually tugging at the rider's waist still? Haven't used them or seen them used before but they seem a bit odd.

If you still want to get a pillion grab rail at the back you could try Ventura - theirs is a luggage system that un-clips when not in use, but you can specify a grab rail rather then the rack for their bags - that way it would not be vissible when she wasn't on the back, so neater than a renntec. Not sure if they have released one for the 675 yet.

hi Lylej
have you had a look at Ventura. My mate has a gsxr 1000 k5 with one of these on he had a seat pad made for the backpack part and its like sitting in an arm chair for the pillion. here the link http://www.ventura-bike.com/fitments.aspx?manu=Triumph i had a quick glance and there doesn't seem to be anything for the 675 but im sure they say in one of there adverts they can make them for any bike it might be worth while dropping them an email. all the best MJP damn beaten to it by philbut Last edited by parkinmj; 12-02-09 at 01:39 PM. ![]() ![]() The other thing it gives is that if you were indeed holding on by your hands, you'd be gripping the person in varying degrees, with the love handles you don't feel that because they aren't trying to grab you, they hold on tighter to the plastic handles. I was lucky in that I borrowed a pair off a mate to try first, but to be honest they're only about £10 - it's worth a go IMO. |
