Just by pass the switch then there are no more problems.
I'm also pleased that someone's none starter thread makes them look sillier than mine ![]()

I bypass all safeties and simply don't start the bike in gear, or ride off with the sidestand down.

Some FI systems, including the one on the SV1000 also apparently have a different mapping with the clutch pulled in to help stop them stalling, which means bypassing the clutch switch permanently alters your low speed fuel and ignition mapping to one that is not suited to riding. At this point I'd not be surprised if people blamed "that complex FI system" for the apparent fuelling issue. Just a thought Jambo

Yes on the TL series motors you have to do something different with the clutch switch, involving a relay IIRC.
Oh I pull the clutch in anyway out of habit, reduces the load on the starter slightly. But my theory is you will only need to learn not to forget it's in gear once! Far better to have a little bit of a drop and get laughed at by your mates than to be left stuck somewhere inevitably cold/wet/rough when one of idiot switches decides it's not playing. IMO anyway.

I was taught to pull the clutch in before thumbing the starter to avoid that "taking off down the road when you least expected it" feeling.
Not long after that I was helping repair an AJS, and dutifully pulled in the clutch and started kicking. It was 15mins before someone told me ![]() |

I've never seen an AJS, but presumably that the starter mech was connected to the gearbox, so kicking it with the clutch in didn't move engine at all.
