My point about the H&H is, that the pub is a nicer place to be, and so i'd rather be there than the hawk.
All much of a muchness I'd say. More farmer and working type people at H&H being as it's near a working type village in a rural location

I'm happy to go with the flow, if it stays at the Hawk i'm not going to stop turning up.

It's not as though it's the back of beyond - with the exception of Green Lane itself (even this isn't too bad) the pub is served by main roads all around - absolutely no different to The Hawk.
I beg to differ with you on this one. The roads out from south woodham ferrers would more than likely be one of the last to be gritted and due to the lack of any lighting whatsoever is a little more dangerous at night(I can only comment on this road toward the pub as that is the one I used and am more likely to use to get there.

Yes, the lights on the ST are like little candles as well so can fully concur with you on that one Artylady

Full beam? Highly unlikely that pookie or myself could have used these at 21h00 on friday night. More than likely that a low-beam would be required on a "normal" evening.

1. How often do we have a meeting if the weather is bad?
pretty regularly I think...even in winter E of E and I still go and sometimes Caddy joins us.
2.When we do have meetings in the winter time how many of you who have cars use
them?
If the weather is really crap then I'd take the car, yes.

3.How frequently do you attend the Hawk?
Quite a lot I would think
4.Caddy,Since the change in your domestic circumstances and moving how often
have you attended on the bike?
5.Ian, How many times since June 2007 have you actually attended?
6.How many people ride home completely alone the whole journey?
7.JW,You like myself tend to use the car if the weather is likely to change for the
worse
Correct
8.Compare the ease of parking
Not really an issue even at the Hawk. There is always space round the back on the gravel. The only issue at the hawk is obviously that its a bit trickier on the gravel on the bike.
9.Quality and quantity of the food and service provided
Couldn't possibly compare as I didn't have the pub food at H&H
10. Facilities i.e Toilets on ground level and place for the smokers amongst us
Not a problem as I don't smoke
11. It may be further to reach for some but nearer or similar for others.
Correct. I don't mind either way. An extra 10min isn't really going to make a difference to my journey time.
I am not saying it is ideal for everybody but if you want a suggestion for another venue that is on a main road, easy to find, with accommodation next door, there is the Pub and Premier Inn at Boreham on the main A12.

I have not predudicely singled out any individuals but made observations regarding comments made
and apologies in advance if I have caused offense
None taken DT or the rest of you.

Again, for the ease of getting there and finding it and the fact that certain members have used the train to get there before, I vote for the Hawk again.

I don't really want to travel an hour to go for a pint, especially if that means dealing with rush hour on a Friday (which it would), there's nothing particularly wrong with either the Hawk or H+H, but the H+H is just too far from me.
Why do we meet up? So we can ALL have a drink, some food, and most importantly chat with each other.
The Hawk isn't perfect, BUT we can all get there.

No need to shout.

Why don't you all buy a laptop with a webcam & make a conference call, that way you could all be in your favourite pub or even at home with a few tinnies & still chat.

I'll go now!!!!

Ive suggested Chelmsford before (but always gets ignored ) - that would be ideal as it's very central. I don't know about Smiths as I've never been there but there are more pubs in Chelmsford than you can shake a stick at.

Can't do wednesdays which is why I always do the Essex meet. That, and I can't be bothered to go into London for the soho meet.
