Do I detect a touch of snobbery here? Or is it as you said that Hondas are a little bit like ars@holes (everybody has one)

Thundercats have pretty good handling, & excellent brakes. They're fairly roomy for a sports bike, so not bad two up. They perform pretty well, although, compared to an SV they would seem a touch revvy, as would be common with any 4 cylinder 600.

The Zx7'r is a pretty good bike, but like its 600 counterpart the maintenance schedule makes them somewhat more costly to run.

SRAD 600/750's are not bad & there are quite a few around especially in 600 form. They don't seem to take abuse very well, hence they can become a money funnel if you buy the wrong one. You're more likely to find a good Thundercat than a good 'proper' sports bike within your budget.

Cheers.

you're right on both counts there mate tbh.

one of my favourite things about the yam is that its called a thundercat. that is very win.

whats the zx's service schedule like then? my googlefoo is poor

i would have thought an srad would have had a fairly hard life, what tends to get knackered?

thats actually one reason i'm more keen on a 750, in theory it should have had an easier life..

hovis, how did you get your insurance down?

yorkie chris you said you'd go for a 750 srad, why?

Stick with your SV until you are happy getting your knee down round Elephant and Castle.

Seriously, get more confident with all aspects of your riding THEN make the move.

More torque, less stressed, less fred astair action on the gearbox to get a shift on. USD forks as standard, beefier swingarm as standard if you're fussed about that sort of thing.

But actually given the budget I'd be more tempted by a slingshot 1100.

It took four pages before that was brought up! Absolutely right mate, problem is, I'm very impatient. I know I'm not making necessarily the best move, but i want i want i want..

You'll only wish you hadn't!

I've done the whole big bike scene and there's no point on UK roads unless your up in the highlands or something like that!

SV you can rag and be relatively license safe!

I was going to say it earlier, but what with switching from the SV to the Zed after only 18 months, its a bit hypocritical, also I dont really think its anyones place to tell someone else what bike the should or shouldn't ride.

I think I would probably still be riding my SV if it hadn't been for the write-off thing.

I took this zx7r out this afternoon,

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk...icleRegLetter=

Because of the location of the dealer I couldn't really open it up, and I didn't want to take their bike out for long cos I felt funny about it lol
First thing I saw was the tyres, looked like they came straight off a track day. Second thing I saw was the performance bike mag sticker, asking the sales lady I found out that pb had borrowed the bike last week for a feature. And if it's good enough for them...
Felt fantastic, much higher up then the sv and although you could really feel the weight at low speed above 15 ish it was easy. Brakes were shocking though, mine were better BEFORE I rebuilt them. I was surprised how little torque there was low down, I reckon the sv would be much faster and easier to ride around town. Sounded nice, didn't get over second gear sadly and I really wanted to! Going to have to find one out of town next, its really not build for busy slow roads but I cant wait to take one up the a272!
Mostly this one was double my budget, I'll find one though. Definitely getting a kwak now, just as soon as my sv goes
