I had a single on my last bike and a twin on my current. In both cases 7 o'clock position few mm above chain and few mm away from sprocket. Feel free to trim the thin bit of the delivery pipe if it makes life easier as it's not exactly critical to maintain it at the supplied length. Scott will send you some more for not much money at all.
Having had both a single and a double I would not hesitate in going back to a single again next time. Getting a double to deliver at a sensible rate from both tubes seems to be impossible so you end up with one right and one lubing your tyre or one right and the other dripping about once per day. Unfortunately to retrospectively convert from double to single involved replacing or extending the main delivery tube which is too much of a faff for me to bother with. Pipe routed along groove in tool box, under swingarm to dispenser. PS and VERY IMPORTANT. Fitting a Scott oiler does NOT mean you no longer have to check and maintain your chain. It just does the day to day lubrication for you.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for the advice given about the position of the dispenser nib. After losing a second nib I decided to invest in some bobbins and use them to position it properly.
I have attached some pictures so if anyone else needs help they can take a look. Please excuse the state of my bike, its filthy after the latest nib fell off and the tube just sprayed oil all over the place. It got a damn good cleaning after I took these pictures ![]() |

Good job!
Don't forget, it's not an excuse not to check regularly, still make checking your chain a daily or weekly task depending on mileage. Hopefully it'll help towards chain & sprocket trouble-free motoring for you. |

Hi guys just thought I would give you a quick heads up on the new dispenser position. Its been about two weeks since i changed it and used the rear bobbins to hold it in place and so far I haven't got any complaints.
The nib is still in the same position as when I set it up and more imoprtantly I haven't lost any due to backing the bike up etc. Seems to me this is the position of choose and I hope that anyone setting one of these up will be able to use this thread to do the same. One small query though is that I have noticed some oil is splashing on the inside wheel and was wondering if this was normal with the Scottoiler or if I have the flow rate set a bit too high. When I set it up I made sure that it was set to 1-2 drops per minute. Mine is about 2 drops every 90 secs. Any advice? Thanks again to everyone who commented and gave advice on this thread. Very helpful |

2 drops every 90 secs is about right, but remember to turn it to two drops a minute when the weather is cold or wet. The oil flows that bit better in hot weather, and the rain tends to wash some oil off the chain. One of the purposes of the oil is to keep the chain cool as well as lubricated, so don't skimp on the flow too much in summer just because it's flowing faster.

Dont forget that the oil reservoir may be in a "hot spot" on your bike, so the flow could increase due to warming when riding.
