Aye, times change lad.
I can remember gas lamps and trams first time around. And weeks worth on the first bike cost 48p, and first pay packet was just over £9. I've heard they got something called haryplanes that go in the sky with people in them. Ey by gum, whatever next

At the price we were paying for in the 3rd week in January we used £11600 worth of fuel to go from Leeds to Tenerife and back, we operate 38 aeroplanes I'm so glad I don't pick up that bil!

I bought my first car in 1998, a 2nd hand Fiesta 1.3. I remember that it used to take just under £30 to fill it on my way home from work, and the cost was 57.9p per litre. That means that petrol is now approximately 2.25 times as expensive.
I bought my first house in 1999, and paid £33k for it. It's some time since I moved on, but I did notice it for sale recently for around £125k, which is approximately 3.75 times more than I paid. Petrol might be heading upwards, but it's some way to go to match house price inflation over the last few years...

![]() Personally, I'd quite happily go back to the prices of 98/99 for both, but it ain't going to happen. ![]()

Petrol cant be too expensive, else traffic levels would fall. Its still cheap enough to do the school run, the most un nescessary journey ever.
I even doubt £2 a litre would make much difference. |
