Lol at this thread.

I'm reading everyone's resting heart rates with a bit of disbelief if I'm honest (and envy). I consider myself pretty fit (although I don't play much sport like I used to), 27 years old and my heart rate measured just now was 76 bpm. To me that does seem a little high, but even when I was playing football/rugby 3 times a week my heart rate was high 60s!

Its common for tri athletes and professional cyclists to have heart rates in the high 20s 30s and 40s.........but what are you lot, professional sports people??

Incidently, a heart rate of 72 bpm minute is supposedly perfectly normal for a young healthy male, so Ive understood.

Reading some of the stuff about 70 being about average, I must be about to keel over or something. Mine's between about 56-60. I'm 24 by the way.

Not at all, just cos the 'average' is 72 or whatever, doesn't mean that's what is the best / healthiest, etc.

The average dress size for women in UK is now 16 I believe, that doesn't mean it's the 'best' does it?!

60bpm, ligged out for a few minutes before, so not totally at rest but near enough. Not bad to say the only exercise I've done since the 17th was walking to a bar.

I don't get this thread....your all still breathing aren't you??
What difference does it make what your resting heart rate is?

I've got very healthy low blood pressure, I'm as unfit as a out of tune fiddle, but thats my doing, I can't do strenuous exercise, because if I do, my limbs will fall off(ok they won't but they'll be seriously injured) I'm happy with just breathing thankyou very much!

Male, 17 (18 on the 10th September), 14 stone (ish), 6ft (ish), carrying some extra weight, not fit at all, smoke too much, drink too much.

First Attempt: 78bpm, 13 beats per 10 seconds.
Second Attempt: 72bpm, 12 beats per 10 seconds.
