Even old engine oil will work fine. Dont forget to viually inspect the chain once a week, and clean it sometimes. Grit may still accumulate on that plastic / rubber runner thing on the swingarm, stuff like that

Any hints or tips .... particually on getting it filled cleanly ??[/QUOTE]

Got a few small pipettes from work & cut off the end of one to put on the end of the filler tube from the bottle.
It's half the thickness of the original filler - goes in further & lets air out without globs of oil.

I use a syringe left over from a printer cartridge refilling kit.

What's wrong with the bottle and tube? Designed for filling it.

Worth buying just one bottle if you don't have one.

Does anyone know if the universal scottoiler fits an sv(06).
Just bought an sv and had one on my last bike, definatley fit another.
The scot oiler home page just lists a new 'v' version which is £83.

Its a very basic bit of kit - it'll be fine!!

I'm having a bit of bother getting the straw bit at the end to stay where it needs to be - very small surface area for it to sit without it on the chain, or in the gaps in the sprocket - any ideas??

Personally there I'd mount off the bobbin mount, you have quite an amount of dangle there for it to move about.

You can see how I did it on the VFR on the previous page, it was pretty much the same setup I used on the SV.

Ah - that's better!!

Looking good!!

Now - couple more things....

Doesn't the nib wear down quickly?? And will the chain clean itself now, or do I need to clean it to give it a headstart....

Chuffed !!

No the chain wont clean itself, if you turn the flow rate up high on the oiler, the oil will wash the chain and clean it to a certain extent, but its an Scottoiler not a Scottchaincleaner

Like has been said, the oiler isnt a substitute for regular chain maintenance including cleaning...

If you want to clean your chain, get some parafin and an old paint brush or I use a toothbrush and give it a good going over with that instead.
