This is something I do not get!
My housemate is happy to live in filth and leave skid marks on the toilet but insists both seats must be down? Why not just actually clean up after yourself and leave the top one up? And if you leave the top one down long enough without cleaning it gathers dust and looks dirty anyway? On a side note I don't really get why the the middle one should be down at all times (other than looking better)? Is it so it ONLY inconveniences the bloke? Every time you run to the loo busting you have to put it up then when you're done put it back down only to repeat the process next time you need the loo? Dave, confused of Sheffield

Can't answer that one. If you're not going to put the top seat down then there's not much point moving the middle one

Pro(s) - they might be fit, and might let you shag them.
Con(s) - they might not be fit, and in any case, might not let you shag them. |

When I used to sub-let rooms I had 2 rules.
1 - Your bedroom can be in any state you want provided it doesn't smell, its your space and you're paying for it so fair is fair IMO. 2 - Friday night before the weekend begins we all clean. I'd clean the stairs/entrance/landing I had an en-suite and a "way" that I liked the kitchen so I cleaned those and the 2 housemates had to choose from the front room, the dining room, the living room or the Bathroom). It used to work brilliantly as we were all more inclined to keep the place easier to clean on the Friday so we were out quicker. The bathroom became a race to avoid so all in all provided I'd done the stairs etc first then by the time I'd finished the kitchen downstairs was spotless, dinner was ordered and en route. Why is this relevant? Well when I had male housemates this got done without issue or complaint, it was done each week and never failed to impress when we brought the after party back with us. When I had female housemate (1 male 1 female), initially it was ok but then differences show. eg: She's not feeling up to going out so wants to take her time to clean up... fair enough, only we return in the early hours to see its not only not been done but her dinner things now clutter up the kitchen again. Or the occasion she'd had her hair cut in the dining room and swept it to the corner as though to collect it up later on. Or the Friday Mark and I had rushed around cleaning like mad so as to be out of her way for her friends to come round for a girly night in - obviously we came back a little earlier than we'd said we would to try & interrupt the naked pillow fighting (which we know you all do btw) only to discover the house turned upside down, which is not an issue in itself but when she insisted that we all clean it together it was. See what I'm getting at is that from experience I would say a male housemate might be a bit of a **** from time to time but when stuff needs doing provided they're asked or its predetermined then they'll muck in and get the job jobbed. The female variety on the other hand seem to take and make any excuse they can in order to avoid it unless of course it benefits them and then in which case its demanded that all hands be on deck. |

No, neither female housemates we went through did I ever get to go through lol.
The first one was hot but a fruitcake and my hair dresser, I always felt it wise not to get involved with a woman who had access to where I slept and sharp objects... The second female was not so attractive, but her BFF was a perfect 10 all day long! We interviewed in a pub and when they arrived I was 'please be the one on the left pls be the one on the left'... needless to say it wasn't. The potential tenant was the weighty one, her BFF had come for moral support and if I'm honest I think she was presented as a "if I move in this hot girl will visit regularly". Now I'm not saying her having a stunning friend played any part in her getting the room... but it definitely did... and Yeah Si I had no rules about tapping the friend, she was fair game and worth every minute of play. |
