Couldn't start Wifey's old VanVan this spring. I'd had my old NSR and that on charge for a day each. The NSR fired up like a good'un but from the VanVan nothing, not even a cough from the starter motor. I put the battery back on charge, I tried again, I went to Halfords and brought a new one, I even got the Father-In-Law to bring over the battery from his VanVan to swap over and still nothing. Until he got on and fired it up straight away. "Embarrassing, how did you do that?" "I held the clutch lever in - it's a Suzuki, they all do that." Still, at the least I knew how to start the SV when I bought it!

Only done the disclock thing once, and that was on a battered 170,000 mile old CB250RS. You couldn't tell what scrapes were new out of all the ones it had, so no great shakes aside from it broke an indicator lens. I hadn't a clue what bike the indicators came off so I just gaffa taped the broken one back on and it passed 2 more MOTs like that.

I stopped locking the bike up after that, even though it had no ignition switch cos I lost the keys when I moved house. The keys turned up in a box 3 years after I gave the bike away.

Ahh, the stupid things that we do, once dropped the bike in a car park slipping on gravel! Sat for ages wondering what the big light was on the dash and wondered if it was safe to start the bike with it there, "Oh that is your ignition light dear" says the bike shop man! How many times have we all got all geared up, pulled our gloves on and then realised that the bike is still locked in the garage with the keys in my pocket? Oh, just me then...

Yeah, me in the thicko club too!

I stopped today at a T junction, forgot to put my leg out. WTF?

There was a split second while I was coming to a stop where I distinctly remember thinking "Something dint feel right, what is it?".

Hustled a bit, thankfully nothing hit the tarmac.

Lack of sleep!

It was obviously mental block day - "Why is that revving so high? Oh, I've just changed down, not up. What a pillock." Actually I was ruder than that, and doesn't it sound loud inside the helmet when you shout at yourself!

Similar story I once heard, two friends of friends (as you do) sitting in a car at the lights, bike pulls up in the next lane. Doesn't put either leg down, guys in car quite impressed at his balance.

Next then they know bike topples over with a crash!

Guys jump out of car and rush to help, biker is just lying there, laughing his ass off.

Turns out he'd decided to uncouple the sidecar before going for this morning's ride and forgotten...
