The thing that bugs me about what this teacher did is the fact that he left blanks so the students could figure them out for themselves. Essentially wasting their time trying to solve racist mnemonics. We're unaware of the one's he left blank but let's say it was

Why bother 'stimulating' their minds in solving a mnemonic like this? He asked for it, and in my opinion not very smart teaching methods by him. I had many great teachers, they were usually the old timers, but they never fed us cruddy mnemonics that could probably be just as memorable without having rape and a negative reference to a skin colour in it.

Sorry but it out dated and i believe he should have got a ticking off. Papers were not called for.
YC glad you don't find it offensive but there will be more that do and that doesn't just mean left wing whatever insult you want to fling at them.
Pc gone mad is not calling a black board a black board. That could be classed as deflamatory.

Though I can sympathise is it harder for the older generation to stop using wrods and phrases that are now seemed as inappropriate EVEN if they mean no harm by it.

Im more suprised that he was dobbed in by another teacher.

Yeah he should have got a ticking off, not an official warning from the schools board or whatever.

Using that phrase whilst teaching is just plain stupid. Anyone getting in a huff about it needs to take a step back and realise people shouldn't be saying things like that when teaching. So what if they're 16 and hear it all already? Doesn't mean adults should be teaching them things like that. If I was a black lad I'd be pretty offended by it to be honest.

On the plus side there's now a whole swathe of people who can remember the resistor code.

if your child was being taught phrase's like black boys rape our young girls would you approve? While i agree the world is far to PC that's a very racist phrase and has no place in society let alone a school.
It does not offend me personally but im a white guy so why would it, i can see how it may offend others. Some people find it hard to look beyond their own views.
Defending a racist phrase being taught in school's is something id only expect from far right

complete waste of time that it had to go to 'The General Teaching Council' who presumably spend their time making sure every textbook and exam question contains an exotic name and every coloured pencil is equally represented in the art rooms.
