Im with You there K, have encouraged my kids to do what they were interested in not what they should be doing as a gender. Hope they take that forward in their lives.

im not what i would class as a lady. I ride bikes, take part in mauy thai kickboxing, used to drink pints (but I fall over now) but saying that when I go out I like to wear skirts. I love nice underwear. Not very good in heels but feel good when I do wear them. Ive not really had any bad experiences being a female biker but as soon as they hear Im a mum there are a few raised eyebrows. Its as if you have to stop all fun activities once you become a mum. its more tolerated a girl doing "boyish" activities than a boy doing "girlish" stuff. when my son was young he used to love playing with his sisters polly pocket toys, his dad went mad saying he would turn out gay!!!

I used to play with my sister barbi stuff - although mostly I liked to crash her barbi camper van down the stairs. I didn't turn out gay (que comments from the TVSF lot about my hair).
I think the divide between the sexes has been getting smaller in all aspects of life, although i accept there is still a certain amount of discrimination (positive and negative). A lot of girls I know DO conform to certain female stereotypes in some aspects, but in others are more masculine than me. Just be who you want I guess, no one with any sort of brain should look down or judge you for being happy with who you are! |
