I'd be happy to spend a few minutes chatting to somebody qualified like that, maybe given a leaflet or something else to consider. A few minutes is OK, but I woudlnt want a full blown safety lecture, especially if I was on my way to work or I had to be somewhere.

Well this is the job I am working towards so fingers crossed for me.

Me personally tho, would prefer a drop in place at a pub car park, set up a stand and stay static and let bikes come to me IF they wanted. Staffs have done this too but they like these Operations.

The problem is it's not the officers fault this is happening, it's the public. When I first started we tended to treat people as we found them, if they gave us gip they got the same back, if they were half reasonable we would be equally co-operative and understanding. Nowadays people want to be able to slag you off to your face, ignore what you ask them to do, push you out of the way if you try and stop them doing something they shouldn't, and then complain about you if you don't give them a thank you note afterwards.
Aint that the way of the modern world though? Its exactly the same in all walks of life where our whole society is being micro managed by an ever more powerful bunch of control freaks. The Polis is no exception.Older more experienced workers are total anathma to these new breed of zealots as they are in a position to question and critisize them.Where I work the older staff are being bullied and sidelined like never before and no excuse is passed over to get rid of them if at all possible.Replacements are drafted in suitably brainwashed and primed for a probably short career of "compliance" and obeyance.I read all about it when I was at school in Orwells 1984

ok just to kill the "funny" remark with just one of the many real facts. 19 alleged hijackers about 6 were found to be alive and completely uninvolved. yet the offical report still contains their names as having being hijackers. Doh!

happy to start a new thread about this but feel free to do a search as you will find plenty of pages worth of it already.

Our resident rozzer warned me off plate tampering with promises of having my toy confiscated and being made airtight in the shower-block. Shame you don't get that for burglary or assault anymore...

Oh yes they do...well sort of. I got a memo through from the CJU (on of our admin units) today to tell me that a couple of blokes we nicked in a stolen car a few months ago had changed their plea and got sent down for 6 years....mind you it might also have had something to do with the handgun we found under the passenger seat! Still a nice result though.
