Hi lads, new to the forum. Considering an sv however it will have Rearsets, i'm 6'3 and concerned about fitting on it properly. Is there any way of raising the seat. Also on tyre size, I understand 160 rears are standard, can you fit 180's at all?
Thanks |

a K3 bike sits higher at the back than the rest, so it would be your best bet if your tall, i think you can put on a bigger tyre, maybe a 170/60 but from what ive read it messes up the handling of the bike....

I'm 6'4", have rearsets and fit alright. Granted I wouldn't spend more than a couple hrs on it without needing a break, but the same would be true of the stock bike anyhow.
As for the 180, while you might be able to pull it off you'll end up with a terrible profile. The stock 160 is already a bit wide I think -the tire is quite steep near the edges. A 160 on a 5" rim is about right.

Reason I ask is im looking for an sv650 for td's / maybe the odd race if i get quick enough. Just worried its going to be a tad cramped. Also 180 scrubs are cheaper but i guess it'll have to be 160s

For a track day I think you'll be fine. Plenty of used 160 race tires around too - I've managed to accumulate a few sets for SM and the SV both -just keep your eyes on ebay. I think I paid £35 for my last set of Pirellis, which held up well at a recent Rockingham track day.

Does this matter much between the different year models as i'll more than likely be looking at an early carb model?

Mine's a later pointy, so don't have any experience with sizing/comfort on the curvy bikes, but I believe the wheels are the same size so the tire info should still apply.
