Although only a couple of years old, my pc could do with a memory upgrade (1 gig) and currently runs a dodgy XP after erasing the evil vista that came with it.
I'd like to run Windows 7, so looking at a quick replacement. Two cheapies pop up at Comet, which is easy as collect on the way home type of purchase, and I like Acer: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro...ER-X3812-E3300 http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro...ER-X3812-E5400 Is the E5400 worth the extra £40? I dont ever play games, and 500Gb is about 400Gb more than I need anyway, but if its still a no brainer I'll get that one over the cheaper one. |

Couldn't you just add more memory to your current PC?
Do you know the rest of the spec As the exact processor names aren't listed it's difficult to say if the pentium would be better than the celeron but they usually are.

I'd have to replace the current memory, then buy Windows 7 (which the upgrade advisor software didnt think it would fully support) so thats investing maybe £100 on my current pc, wheras for £280 I get a shiny new one

But you are saving £180.
Do you know your current processor? What do you use your PC for?

I use my pc for office applications, surfing the net, music editing, storing my pictures, email that kinda thing. Nothing that requires any graphic cleverness. I can prolly get £100 for the old one as well. |

May as well go for the celeron then.
The advisor may be right about the current support for Windows 7 as well, I have an old PC running windows 7 and I had all sorts of problems with getting drivers for stuff.
