Default Hello and charging fault.

Hi my name is Matt and I'm new to the site. In febuary I bought a 01' SV 650. This is my first bike other than a dirt bike several years ago. I am a daily rider and it's my only transportation. I love it!!!! However, I am having some troubles. I have been throug 2 batteries and have since had the charging system tested and was told my voltage regulator is bad. I am pretty good with cars, but I am totaly out of my element with this. So now I turn to those of you veterans for some advice. I have been told that there is a gen1 and gen2. Not sure of the diference. Now I have a voltage regulator but have been told Its a gen2. (I confirmed this by actualy looking at the new one versus the old one) the plugs are different. I was told that this would work but just needs to be re-wired. I guess my question is, is it possible to switch the plugs? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time in this matter. Ride safe. Matt

Howdo & welcome to the site. Good choice of bike too
Answer to your question is, yes you can fit the gen2 (pointy) reg/rec. A little bit of soldering & it is quite easy.
This picture isn't that good, but you can just about make out the plug swap. Hope it helps & enjoy the SV
