hey guys,
my chain snapped when i was riding the bike and getting round to replace now, but the problem is, the chain seems too short. i know this has been asked alot before, but can't find a definative answer. i bought this kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-SV6...item1e720837bf before i was 15t front 45 rear 110 link chain by the looks of it, this one if 15t front 44 rear 108 link chain, and it seems to short? is this the wrong chain ? thanks hugh. |

for a start the standard chain is 525 and not 520so you aren't changing like for like, I don't know this kit so can't say whether if just fits on, but theoretically it should.
the post 03 sprocket size is 15/44 for the SVS with 108 links (525) and 15/45 for the SVN (naked) with 110 links (525). another question is "why" did your chain snap? whilst it's possible for a chain to fail for other reasons it's normally lack of care, if this is the case then no chain, no matter how new will last and perhaps a change in maintenance routine is called for. Cheers Mark.

thanks for the reply,
it snapped because it was ****ed basically, lack of care maybe, i just recently bought the bike. so im not greatly clued up with the whole maintenance yet, although we do learn from mistakes, mine being riding when having a chain that was not in the best of nicks and slacker than it should be. But im all for taking care of it, making sure its lubed etc. |

rule of thumb, sitting on the bike you want an inch of movement up/down in the middle of the bottom run of the chain, but check that in several places.

You don't say if you have an SV650S or an SV650 (naked).
I believe the swingarm on the naked model is longer, hence the 110 link chain. So if you have an SV650 (naked) the 108 link chain may just be too short, even if you move the adjusters to their forward limit. Jambo
