chain question
how do you know if your chain has reached the end of it's life?
it seems very noisey if i coast down a road with the clutch in but it's not slack or loose. |

lots of tight spots is usually a good indication along with having to adjust it alot

I have no idea ... I was recently told by a garage that my chain needed changing before it would pass its MOT so I ordered one off ebay with some new sprockets too ... after id taken it all off I could see the wear on the sprockets and as said before the chain did feel really tight in places.
New DID and JT sprockets and she's running better now  you should think about changing the sprockets though if your changing the chain.

Yeah I picked up off here that you should change sprockets at the time.
is it both sprockets? am I looking at silly money to replace these bits? I wish i knew more about bikes, I would know if i need to replace it |

Replace both sprockets otherwise you'll just knacker the new chain rather quickly.
It cost me £35 for front and rear sprockets from Talon delivered. And an Iris Gold x-ring chain £55 delivered from BFM. Fitting was approx £40 at a local bike place. http://www.talon-eng.co.uk http://www.bfmmotorcycles.co.uk . |

I ended up paying £100 for JT sprcokets and DID X-ring gold chain off ebay, I did the fitting myself, with help from a friend, was being quoted £60 from a garage. But all good in the end

look for "hooking" on the sprockets, and to check the chain, try pulling the chain away from the rear sprocket at the part closest to the back of the bike, no movement, chain is good, if it moves its worn

the best advice i was given was if the sproket teeth look like sharks fins then it time for a new set
