Default Ignition Barrel

What is the best way to remove the ignition barrel from the top yoke with a special tool?

Any help would be much appreciated.

It's a torq bolt, you can buy them in sets from Maplin or Machine Mart for around a fiver, or they tend to come in most screwdriver kits. I can't remeber if they've got the stud in the middle or not, make sure you get the right sort!

Also, mine were red threadlocked in- so all in all, they were an utter ****** to shift. Bloody useless things, there might be some point if the bits weren't so easy to find. So I chucked 'em in the bin and fitted a proper bolt

They do have the security stud. I centre-punched and drilled out the wee stud. They're also lock-tited in, so a screwdriver might not give you the required leverage. just a thought.

It's not like it was a big reply

I think the Maplin green set has the right bits to deal with the centre stud.

Bought a 'security' torx set from Maplin, costs about £6/7

Come with predrilled bits so there no need to worry about the stud in the ignition lock bolts,

Got a set by laser tools from the local car repair shop for £4.99 including a 90 degree "spanner" allowing very easy removal of these exact bolts!

Mine were so corroded I had to use an impact driver, but I like hitting things with a hammer.
