Default Cheesed Off (flat battery)

Went out to my bike this morning to go to work & the battery was flat .
I ride it every day (about a 40 mile round trip) so it took me by surprise to say the least.
Charged the battery today, so it's been the nicest days for ages & I've been sat in the house since lunchtime

I will keep my eye on it now to see if I have a problem (Sounds like a kna*kered battery) but why couldnt it happen when it's raining?

I fitted one of these for peace of mind

Still it only shows green when the lights are off, generally an orangy sort of colour.

I guess that this confirms that the SVs charging system is marginal at the best of times!!!

my battery kept going flat only when i was riding with my lights on, i got a new regulator and a new battery and still the same problem. i had it all checked everthing fine exept the reg it wasn's pushing out what it should have been so i bought a secong hand reg which came off a gxr 750 and when tested the meters showed everything was working great and so far the problem is cured (i hope)

Wouldn't it be a good idea to extend the wiring to the reg/rec and mount it up front under the bottom yoke, out in the airflow?

I did this years ago after my GSX750EFE fried 2 reg/recs in 6 months - the second time it set fire to the sidepanel and seat as I was riding - and it's still going strong 20 years later on the same reg/rec that I put in it back then.

Just found a Gixxer one on ebay for £10, so I might as well try it for that money. Many thanks .
