all of them?:p

i dont know where you are, but its pointless you going out of your way, just go the way you want, and tell me where the best place for you is?

Bridgwater Junction 23 is fine for me but I don't mind meeting you further up if you prefer!! We'll take the route Fizz said then, can be abit boring unless your willing to have some double white line fun??? ;)

To be honest I would recommend the motorway. Its not a long stretch from the Severn Bridge area to Bridgewater, and the M5 is the road closest to the coast on much of that bit. From my place its only 30 mins in the car to Bridgewater on the motorway. There's lots of limits and a few cameras between Bridgewater and Cheddar otherwise (which is a nice run mind). Or you could come off on the A38 south of Weston and come down that to Bridgewater. After that just follow A39. There's a shortcut thorugh Bridgewater but you won't need to worry on the bikes. Having said this it is bank holiday so a cut to Cheddar and through might be less nerve wracking.

When you pass Nether Stowey don't scare the horses on my country estate, although you may not see the flag as I am not in residence on these dates ;)

Not exactly, my father-in-law is a recent incomer, so I have been spending a lot of time down there. It's great, my favourite place to be around there.

I have been staying at the camp site this weekend and spoke to the owners, he told me they are fully booked for next weekend, although the pitches aren't marked and they don't cram people in every space which is good.
The rally field isn't really for rallies it's the field they always use for tents and caravans that don't pay for electric hookup. There are 6 portaloos in there and about 100 yards to a really nice clean toilet and shower block.
I'm not gonna be able to get there until late as i have to work friday now, hopefully be there by about 7:30. As there are no marked pitches the first person there will have to pick a good spot for us all to be together.
Those that want me to carry stuff i will be in Portsmouth tomorrow night so let me know if you want me collect anything.

Wideboy
24-08-09, 10:28 AM
hmm i duno whether to just turn up then?

who is getting there 1st?

hovis
24-08-09, 10:37 AM
me. probably?

about 2pm?

i would book if i was you, as you may get turned away, as i have a recipt to prove i have booked and paid

Wideboy
24-08-09, 10:41 AM
well its doesn't sound like they have a booking plan for the rally field so to speak, i could have paid up same time as you but doesn't mean i would get in?

i just have visions of other people staying there setting up where they want and spreading all the crap about taking up room

hovis
24-08-09, 10:43 AM
we have been asked to book, i think if you just turn up, you will get turned away, as they may worry about 20-30 peeps just turning up

the_lone_wolf
24-08-09, 10:44 AM
Spose I'd better try and book a space then:eek:

If we can't get i'm sure there's somewhere nearby we could sleep... Other campsite, grass verge, someone's garden?

No worries about the distance from the showers, just ride there naked on the bike in the morning, waving to the other campers:mrgreen:

diamond
24-08-09, 10:48 AM
It's a biggish field, if you say that you are booking to be with friends that already have a pitch and that you will be pitching close together they'll let you book i reckon. They just said they don't book in too many so that there is plenty of room for people, and that tents aren't right next to each other, but if you want to be close together they will get double the money for one pitch really so everyone s a winner. It might be worth mentioning that you only have a bike and not a car because a car takes up a fair bit of room.

If they ask me for moneys you'd best be showing up...:p

There is another camp site virtually next door.

Word of warning it is a very quite camp site and to get in or out or to go to the shower block you have to go very close past lots of caravans and camper vans, i have been there 4 days and there was virtually no noise. I think we are going to have to be very respectfull riding bikes in or out and moving around or we will get kicked out. They run a very tight ship and did point out all the rules to me when i arrived especially the one about noise after 10:30 and i was there as part of a family not part of a rowdy bike group.

Furk, just phoned and got "the woman"

Apparently they've closed the books on the rally site so not taking any more bookings, she seemed delighted to tell me... I guess the choice is either turn up and wing it or send the business elsewhere, frankly I'm inclined to do the latter...

edit: Wideboy, let me know what you want to do, I haven't booked anything yet...

thats a very fair point well made..

I would be highly embarrassed if we got asked to leave.. more so because it would mean vinegar face would be smiling with an "i told you so " look on her snout..

we can walk to town if we want for a pub.. or sit nice with a few beers.. no need for major noise eh

If you don't mind roughing it there was a tent on a grassy area by a car park up on the moor about a mile away from the campsite at the weekend. You could do that and then come down and visit us and use our showers.

Is that the one on hill road? Only problem I foresee is not being able to enjoy a cider in the evenings as it's a bit of a step to walk back

Google Maps Link (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=51.210262,-3.597718&daddr=Hill+Rd&geocode=%3BFdSFDQMdpajJ_w&hl=en&gl=uk&mra=mi&mrsp=0,1&sz=18&sll=51.210345,-3.597105&sspn=0.002443,0.006968&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=18)

The weather looks pleasant all weekend so I may well not even bother pitching a tent anyway, just sling a camp mat and sleeping bag on the floor and sleep al fresco under the stars...

I'm a 90% sure, really want Kate to come but she's exhausted at the mo so may not be up for it. We'll have to see closer to Friday.
