back safe, thanks to all the people that made the weekend great, the young ladys for the breakfast and old git for his firestarting genius. Thanks to Hovis for an awsome route(s) and to Stretchie for getting us back via some cool roads.

Well, bugger me - guess there was a camera van out on Sunday. Just got a nastygram in Welsh :(

Pingu65
08-10-09, 06:15 PM
On know....How many will they have caught?

Does it say where? Was it definately the 1000 sheep road?

orose
08-10-09, 06:51 PM
It was Sundays ride - A470 through the beacons. I'd bet it was when I was following the boss just before that fuel stop.

Dave20046
08-10-09, 06:59 PM
crap. what's the damage?

orose
08-10-09, 07:11 PM
Its probably a bad sign that it doesn't say.

Looking at the ACPO guidelines that turned up in another thread, it'll be a 3pt/£60 - 85 in a 60.

Dave20046
08-10-09, 07:14 PM
I know it's probably no comfort to you but I'm pleasantly surprised. I always guessed more than 20mph over would be a 6pointer.
Could have been worse though!

S Wales disguise their mobile speed cams i.e horse boxes etc.

i thougth they weren't allowed to be hidden, i swear they are supposed to be on clear display? otherwise you can call it entrapment or some ****.

Thats North Wales, not South.

All it says on the NIP about location is A470 Beacons at ~12:30, hence why I think it was when I was trying to keep up with Hovis after Teacosy went off for a couple more laps of one of those roundabouts :(.

was it deffo on the sunday and not the one we saw just after 1000 sheep road on the sat

orose
09-10-09, 06:37 AM
Could well be, actually - rechecked the date, and its the 26th. Not sure about where the A470 goes though

I reckon it'll be that scamera van where we turned out of the 1000 sheep road, we turned left out of the Junction and then it was in the layby on the LHS...

26th was a Saturday and thats the only scamera I saw all weekend.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that we did turn out onto the A470 at that point. Seems to ring a bell with me anyway...

Bit of a p*sser sorry to hear that they nabbed you :(

Bris-Rob
09-10-09, 09:04 AM
Its 14 days for notice isnt it? So come saturday and you 'should' be ok.

Apparently if you dont recive the notification they will send you another one out. If you dont recive that, they then send another one recoreded delivery, so they know that it has not been lost. They can only chase up 1 in 4 of these cases though.....:smt023

Yep, As soon as we turned left off 1000 sheep road we were back on the a470 in the brecon beacons, pretty sure a few more were speeding there as well tho lol

the left turn off the 1000 sheep does go back on to the A470

theres always a scammera there ( white van job)

Yeah, they are right buggers for it. They do sneaky things like having a full liveried van up near the storey Arms butty van, but it's in a layby backed right up to the trees...

So you don't see it until you are literally next to it.

Of course the only answer to that is 'don't speed' but I'm sure someone will be along to hitlerise that

that's a real pi**er, unlucky mate - i didn't go out with you guys on the Sunday but quite a few of us made sure we slowed down for the van on the Saturday.

Really bad news Ollie. :(

Wasn't that where the car drivers were all frantically flashing to warn us of the "safety camera"?

Just wondering as, if so, then I'm in the clear, but if it was another one :(. but the NIP has expired now, unless there is some dispensation because Kwak's on strike :)

lemmings999

well i did say when we stopped to get fuel that the person in front of me flew past the scamera van but i wasn't sure who it was

So nobody else has received one then? :D

What's the deal with Orose as his NIP didn't give him the option to plead quilty by post and take the usual fine? Is it a court appearance or does the fixed penalty follow?

I havent.

They changed it a little while ago. All the NIP does now is to say that they are intending to prosecute you and they ask you to identify the rider / driver. You fill the form out saying "yes it was me, heres my details" and then send it off, they'll then send you a 2nd letter telling you whether they intend to prosecute you or not and if they do they will give you the option to plead guilty via post. It obviously depends on the speed limit and the speed you clock you at.

If they are intending to take you to court over it they'll tell you in the 2nd letter, but IIRC they have 6 months from the date of the offense in which to tell you that.

I think thats how it works, thats certainly the process I went through when I got my last set of points in 2006.

petevtwin650
13-10-09, 08:28 AM
Good news for you Fizz :D

Thanks for the explanation. Was worried in case a court appearance was on the cards for young Ollie. Fingers crossed it'll just be the statutory fine and points or, better still, decide not to persue the case.

Bris-Rob
13-10-09, 08:39 AM
Im still in the clear, told teacosy not to worry as they cant read a number plate if your on one wheel with it facing the floor...

Feel bad for you orose its not a nice feeling getting a nip through the post.

Unlukiee orose, havn't had anything through my door & after not even knowing there was a van there until we stopped for lunch & fuel, despite all the flashing cars coming the other way, am well chuffed.:D

Although my top speed was not like some others, was giving it a good go when I could, so guess someone up-there was looking after me.
Long may it continue.
