Sorry folks, but I must admit defeat and that I am unable to attend this rather wonderful gathering.

Really sorry to hear it :(

Remember that if things change nearer the time you're always welcome!

Sorry folks, but I must admit defeat and that I am unable to attend this rather wonderful gathering. Sorry VT, I was really looking forward to having fun at your place with every one else. :(

By the way, I got your message and just wanted to say thanks for your kind words too. :smt056

I hope to catch you all soon though, once things have got sorted out for me. :smt065

No worries Jayne, its not your fault. :smt056
Its a good excuse for us to come and visit you anyway!
If Jayne cannot come to burlesque, we will bring burlesque to Jayne :grouphug:
We could come down and stay over at yours for a night if that will be better? Do you think your gorgeous pussy would mind if we brought the puppies though, they would love it on the beach?

Right girls, perves and guys who are reading this for 'private reasons'

Last night Fizzy Fish, Mr VT and I met up with Speedplay and his lovely girlfriend Jenn.

She is also very much into Burlesque / Pin up and is very talented in arts and crafts etc.

I have conned, I mean persuaded her to do a workshop on adding glamour and glitz to your accessories (marabou feathers, diamonte and rhinestones etc)
She will also be doing a course in making your own pasties (burlesque nipple covers).

So the order of the day seems like:
Pin up hair tips and tricks / styling - held by me
How to do a vintage manicure - Purplevamp
Accessories, how to make the most of them - Jenn (yet to be dragged onto this forum)
Pin-up and classic 40s / Dita Von Teese make up - me
Burlesque make up - Purplevamp
How to apply false eyelashes - Purplevamp / me
Before photos
Girly makeovers
After photos
Pass out either through exhaustion or alcohol consumpton.

did someone say pasties.. count me in.. Ginsters steak please

Hi Gracie honey...
Well to sum it up, Friday: Shopping in London
Saturday: Make up, hair, clothing, corset tutorials, fun pastie (nipple tassle) making course with Jenn (Speedplay's OH) who is also going to do some natural skincare made from fruit and veg etc too.
Nair painting (antique manicure) etc
Sunday: ride out with the lads

Most of it is probably on this

Not sure how I missed this, poor you hon!

But be careful, you are lucky, it could have been worse, you could have fallen head first over the fence and snagged your Dita stockings ;)

It is looking pretty amazing though, what a difference already.
Im suprised you let the cat wander around with that wet concrete down though, especially after the last wet concrete incident! lol.

But what you have done has opened it all up so much the difference is absolutely amazing, it looks great!

Mr VT and I spent the entire afternoon yeterday in our garden, it was tiring but rewarding.

I bet you say that to all the girls!

Hehe, lovely Rob, she has such a flexible waist...Im waiting for my new corset to arrive....for a change I have ordered an overbust but its a proper Burlesque one rather than the Goth look that some people get confused with.

For those girls who are confused about this, dont worry, Jenn, myself and Purplevamp will explain the differences at the weekend.

Pin-up, Burlesque and Goth are all completely different but to the untrained person can be easily confused and mixed and matched (cringe!)

both! i never knew the lacing riles were so strict in order to support your back!

Von Teese
01-09-09, 06:04 AM
The rules of lacing are there to protect you, so many people know the dangers of tightlacing and if you dont comply you can seriously damage yourself.

However, if you are just wearing one of those cheapo corsets from somewhere like Ann Summers or off Ebay, then no rules, just put it on and go.... They are just a fashionable outer upper garment and you shouldnt lace them up too tightly (probably only go in 1 inch less than your natural waist measurement no more).

They are marketed as a 'corset' but are basques that have been made to look like one.

The boning in them is cheap and flexible (usually made of plastic or cheap metal) and if you try to tightlace you can cause damage to your back and internal organs as well as the 'corset'.

If, however you decide you want to go for a cinched waist and tightlace we will discuss retailers to purchase them from and also how to safely lace on the weekend.

Most women think all you do is get into any 'corset' then pull the laces as tightly as you can get them!!

Personally, I dont like any of the non made to measure corsets, I find them inferior quality and not as comfortable.

VT - on that topic - you'll know -
front busk on my vollers corset - steel- have bent in to my shape -
good or bad - bearing in mind this is now approx 8 yrs old

Von Teese
01-09-09, 11:34 AM
Bad hon!

Because tightlacing is a body modification, your waist will change shape...so therefore when your waist becomes more pliable and smaller your corset will no longer give you the required support and the distribution of pressure will be uneven causing areas which will be tighter and areas which will be loose (kind of like using thin strips of plaster to support something, if you do one strip tighter than the others it do more harm than good).

Ive tried Vollers and I must be honest, I wasnt impressed, I sent it back :(

For almost the same price you can get a made to measure...I will pm you the details...the lady who makes them is a genius!

I mean dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with High Street brands but if you intend on tightlacing then it becomes like the biking equivalent of...do I buy a cheap lid or a decent one to protect my head. If you are going to start tightlacing ie: 4 inches or more of reduction over a period of time, the damage you can cause will outweigh the cheap cost of a corset that will crush you where you shouldnt be crushed.

I'm just curious, but is the Corset thing part of the Scene or a specific look you are trying to achieve ?

Each to their own and all that, but I dont actually find it attractive, I dont understand why you would want to look like that, just looks like to my eyes that your mutilating yourselves or making your body do things it was never designed to do.

Apologies, I dont mean to cause offense just curious as to why you do it...

In a nutshell, yes!
They can be used to train your waist so that you can be smaller around the waist when uncorsetted too...although this requires the muscles in the stomach to be worked outside of wearing the corset too.

No offence taken Fizz,
Ok you can wear an exterior corset as a fashion accessory, you can wear one that is just a 'pretty' which means you cant lace in much and if you dont have much of a waist to start with you wont have much in the 'corset'

There are others that pull you in and give you a cute little waist. I go for the pin up look eg: Betty Page, Bernie Dexter etc. I love the traditional 40s type dress to go with it, it involves some 'proper corsets' and a degree of tightlacing.
You can go down about 4 inches off your natural waist to get that nipped in look. You will get to the stage where your waist is trained and your corset is too large then you have to move on and get another one....if you want to that is..

Extreme tightlacers go far beyond this point, corsetting down to mere 15 inch waists and it looks horrible, I would never get to this stage, I will not go lower than 22 inches corsetted.
They also wear them 23 hours a day, which for me would be impractical.

My corsetting is a side effect (as it may be) of my love of the 40s pin up girls and fashion, I would not consider it as something I would do around the house or wear to bed (......to sleep that is ;) )

This implies that there are areas where you should be crushed. I'm so glad i'm not a girlie!

Now as its my birthday near the proposed dates, I should get a formal invitation :p

Well internal organs shouldnt be crushed to say the least, one tightlacer in the 20s died as she ripped her liver in half lacing her corset too tight ...say no more!

If you tranny up I might allow you to join in ;)

I think, like many things, it depends what you want to get out of it really.

Me, I like my food too much to take it all very seriously. Plus (and probably most importantly) I can't see myself managing to get on the Gixxer with a corset on. But I still think some of the corsets and burlesque outfits are absolutely lovely, and am happy to play at dressing up every now and again ;)

anna
01-09-09, 11:58 AM
VT I must say that the idea of this sounds a little dangerous  To me and I know nothing, it seems that you are putting a corset on to adjust your waist line, which in turn moves the internal organs around a little, and takes away some of the natural internal support your waist has.

I have read the instructions page and acknowledge that it comes with the caveat that a good diet and exercise is also required alongside using their products. The problem I see is that your abs are built up to support the rest of your structure and how you lift and move is all controlled with those major muscle groups, the restriction and reduction of these muscles is surely a bad thing for your body?

Again, I am not a doctor and I really dont know very much about all of this, I am just putting my thoughts out there to see what you think.

To me this is comparable to women who bound their feet to fit into shoes from a very early age. Many of them suffer later in life with calf and knee pain and deformation due to the constraint of their feet.

I understand that you are certainly not suggesting the use of corsets for people who are not fully developed, I am just saying that it seems to me a little harmful.

Fizzy Fish
01-09-09, 11:58 AM
Oh yeah and +1 to VT's post, i.e. different people take it to different lengths

Von Teese
01-09-09, 12:03 PM
that cant be good for you?

If you know what you are doing its perfectly safe, Jenn knows what she is doing and unfortunately Speedplay laced that one up so it was wrong.

You can tightlace right down to the size of a mayo jar and still be safe as long as you stick to the rules...(although it looks grotesque)

Here is the difference:

This is horrible (current record holder)

VT I must say that the idea of this sounds a little dangerous  To me and I know nothing
Thats why it sounds dangerous...tightlacing is a lifetime work, you can only start at corsetting down a max of 2 inches from your natural waist...when your waist trains down then you do another 2..the horrible picture above, she is 70 years odd and has been doing this for many decades.

I do not extreme tightlace....that is for experts.

it seems that you are putting a corset on to adjust your waist line, which in turn moves the internal organs around a little, and takes away some of the natural internal support your waist has

If you wear the corset for 23 hours a day then yes, it does, but like you said, combined with diet and exercise its not and if you dont cinch in too much you will not move any internal organs about, the body is slightly flexible to allow it.

The problem I see is that your abs are built up to support the rest of your structure and how you lift and move is all controlled with those major muscle groups, the restriction and reduction of these muscles is surely a bad thing for your body?
Actually corsets are brilliant for people with bad backs, and again it depends on how far you want to go.

Again, I am not a doctor and I really dont know very much about all of this, I am just putting my thoughts out there to see what you think.
No worries, to the untrained person it all looks a bit freakish.
Thats what this girly weekend is about, how to do things properly without hurting yourself, buying inferior things and just having fun too.

To me this is comparable to women who bound their feet to fit into shoes from a very early age. Many of them suffer later in life with calf and knee pain and deformation due to the constraint of their feet.
Nope, sorry disagree there, getting your foot snapped in half when you are 12 years old is not comparible to being able to take a corset off when it gets uncomfortable (which you should always do)

I understand that you are certainly not suggesting the use of corsets for people who are not fully developed, I am just saying that it seems to me a little harmful
Its only harmful if you try to start pulling your waist right in with no knowledge.

For younger people, well when you are younger you are more pliable, its actually less harmful according to medical journals (not that I would see any reason why a young woman or child would want to corset).

Worry not Anna, the day I get obsessed with honing my waist down to a stick will be the day I have to give up all the things I love, riding horses, bikes, eating lots lol x

Have to say, totally agree there and good points made to ppl that dont know anything about corsetry (and well done for ppl asking!). I like corsets but Im also a food hog & comfort hog. i thought 22 inch waist was a bit wee when you mentioned it Jenny. You are really slim as it is. Becky measured her waist last night as a slim 16 year old and she could not get the tape measure below 24. This then started a family measuring session. DD and me are now cutting down on food. This will hopefully reduce waist size without having to sell our children to buy a corset lol

i can lace down to a 26/28 which is some going at the moment but not worn corset for a long time.
i'm fascinated by it but would never waist train my body/back would not stand i fear besides as VT says impractical for the amount of time needed
Garry's always laces me in when around but i do have one that i can do myself for work he got me into you could say.

Like VT i like the hourglass as in DVT and i'm lucky that i'm an hourglass without the corset but its nice to have the extra oomph at the waist and above. i like the look and it helps with the scene i suppose - again pin ups and burlesque.

there is a sensous feeling about it but its not for everyone - i alwys promised that one i got a few made to measure i would start wearing them again but i can't get my shoes on when i go to work!

and vt they are delectable - i want the van helsing and the tulip trim over bust or the cincher in black mesh

i thought 22 inch waist was a bit wee when you mentioned it Jenny. You are really slim as it is.
I can corset down to 23 inches now and Im happy with that, I would never go below 22, which is not actually a goal for me, its the end of the line size.

I think 24 is perfect for me at the moment though, I dont want to overdo it and thats only coming in 2-3 inches off my normal size waist (uncorsetted).

Remember I'm all muscle, hence I will NEVER have a waist (no offence intended to anyone ....) UNLESS I get fat!
The only way I can have an hourglass is to waist train in my muscles...simple! I cannot diet my waist away, I cannot do gym (as this builds the muscles there and will make it worse)...so my corset is my friend, it makes me hourglass and fulfils my dream of dressing like a 40s pin up girl...also they are truely sexy in my eyes...I think they are stunning. Even I drool over girls in really gorgeous corsets and Im straight!

Becky measured her waist last night as a slim 16 year old and she could not get the tape measure below 24. This then started a family measuring session. DD and me are now cutting down on food. This will hopefully reduce waist size without having to sell our children to buy a corset lol
But that is uncorsetted ...her waist measurement. The measurements I am talking about are cinched in. I am 26/27 inches natural waist, depending on how huge a lunch Ive eaten. I corset down to 24/25, but can go right down to 23, probably more if I dared, but I dont mess with that kind of thing.

They are stunning, you going to get the black mesh one that is lovely, I also like the underbust like mine but in black...that will be my next one!

I'm not too sure about the corset-thing making certain women look too thin. I've seen a few prime examples where all the displaced, well... wobbliness has simply been pushed upwards where it spills over the sides in a none too attractive fashion. Not a good look in anyone's book that :-|
I think you are talking about when very overweight girls corset down to about 20 inches etc, yes it has to go somewhere, boobs and love handles overflowing and muffin tops popping out the bottom.

As I said before, go with what looks good, dont try to overdo things but some people get obsessed and cannot stop themselves.

Its all about stopping when you feel uncomfortable or sore, or when you reach a size waist that looks sexy but not too small for your body dimensions.

If you know what you are doing its perfectly safe, Jenn knows what she is doing and unfortunately Speedplay laced that one up so it was wrong.

Actually, Jenn asked me to lace it like that.

Every body has a different shape and different builds will be laced differently as a result.

The corset jenn has on wasnt actually as tight as it looks.

She has a largish chest and hips but quite a small waist (smaller still when she starts doing the gym again).

Dont forget too that corsets were originally worn over baggy clothes (chemise blouses and skirts with a bustle) so it tended to make the waist look smaller still.

God you can so tell I have to go through this crap with jenn.

Please dont get me wrong, I understand that it can be fun to dress up and look glamorous.

The thing is that even with all your points I honestly dont see how it is good for your body to be restricted in this way. I get that it can be good for bad backs, I know enough chiropractitioners who would agree, however, that is for people who have already problems in either keeping their back straight, or the muscles in the back not being able to support the spin properly.

I just dont see that it can be good for your internal digestion or lung capacity.

I perhaps used the wrong comparison with bound feet, but there was a time where women took out their floating ribs to achieve this look, and to be honest that is what we are talking about here, a look.

I am the very last person to ever make a judgement on what someone wants to do with their body, I am just raising a concern that I see that this is something that could cause medical complications.

I also understand your points about everything can be taken to extremes but, honestly two inches off a waist without loosing weight or strengthening what is there is not good for the body, compressing organs in this way, not sure you would ever convince me of that one.

Its been a while, but I used to pop in weekly to visit the owner who I used to go clubbing with (then she got involved with a guy I hated, so stopped seeing her so much as he was always around)

That's what its all about!

I honestly dont see how it is good for your body to be restricted in this way.
Am I a bad person if I say I actually quite like this feeling of restriction?
...and Fizzy Fish can confirm that my muscles dont suffer as a result.

I just dont see that it can be good for your internal digestion or lung capacity.
I dont ever lace THAT tight, Im sure some people do but that's not my problem.

This weekend is not about encouraging people to tightlace but to give the advice and knowledge to prevent any injury.

I am the very last person to ever make a judgement on what someone wants to do with their body, I am just raising a concern that I see that this is something that could cause medical complications.
Anna hon, we aren't promoting Tightlacing at this weekend, its supposed to be a girly get-together for fun, showing girls how to choose and lace a corset correctly, how to choose clothing for particular themes of Burlesque and how to do hair, make up etc.

I also understand your points about everything can be taken to extremes but, honestly two inches off a waist without loosing weight or strengthening what is there is not good for the body, compressing organs in this way, not sure you would ever convince me of that one.
Except for extreme tightlacing this is exactly how corsetting works.
You cannot slouch so your posture is improved, if you dont overtighten the corset you still have to hold yourself up, the muscles of your body work against the corset restriction causing you to 'hold in your tummy' which makes the muscle memory there prevent you from flopping your belly out and will tone you when combined with a good diet and exercise.

I know you are concerned for me and the other girls but as I said it wont be us that get into Extreme tightlacing, I mean riding a bike in a corset....hmmm, Im yet to try that!

My body is a temple...I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke and I've never done drugs, why would I do something to destroy my it or encourage my friends to destroy theirs?
But thanks for caring enough to voice your concerns xxxx

Lol, down boys!

Right back to business....

For those girls attending, due to a change of plan, Rictus can now attend to do some portrait shots of post madeover girls.

I have decided that he will therefore be our official photographer for the weekend.

If any of you ladies who are attending have any problems with this for any reason, please PM me.

By the way, the transformation of my new 'dressing room' is taking shape now so we will have somewhere to pose for pin up shots if we cant find anywhere else suitable.

Im not sure if it was mentioned in this thread or another but we have also cleared out Mr VT's spare room so that there is room for 2 on the double bed and one on his sofa.
There is also 2 spaces in the double bed in my spare room available and then there are the sofas downstairs (one 3 seater and one 2 seater).

For the rest, Im afraid it will be sleeping bags or inflatable beds or camping outside in a tent if we start overflowing the house lol...!

I think to make things fair I will ask for PMs at some time nearer to the date to 'book your bed/sofa'.
I will set a date for that and let you all know in advance.

However I will be taking PMs from today for those requiring a bed as opposed to the floor for medical reasons, other than that, it will be first come first serve.
