Thanks for keeping us posted Jen, and Chris if you didn't want an SV any more you didn't have to do that, you could have just traded it in ;)

Jen I don't know Chris, never met him. Can assure you though that he has a good friend in you. Your doing a great service to Chris and his many friends.

Thanks!

Thanks for keeping us posted Jen, and Chris if you didn't want an SV any more you didn't have to do that, you could have just traded it in ;)

You're all welcome.

LOL - there are easier ways to get a GF too... we told the paramedics and staff at the hospital I was his GF, it was the only way they'd let me go with him!

Chris, now you're in the early stages of the road to recovery, I just thought I'd let you know that Steve (Tarmactester36) picked up your streetfighter project today and it's in safe hands (as safe as it can be near my tool box ;))
Now I think you will have to save for some T-cut, you're going to need quite a bit
I'll have a good look at it tomorrow when I get to work and post my findings.

Massive thanks aswell to everyone who was there, our little SV crowd and the emergency services. everyone did their part fantastically and helped Chris get the help he heeded asap =D>
Jen you are a star, I think you were so brave all the way through :notworthy:
If there was any group of friends that I would want to ride with, it's a group like the SV650.org, safe in the knowledge that they are there for you when you need it.
Ride safe everyone.
Christopher, get well soon mate.

Bad news that chris, GWS

fenjer

Good Morning Orgers... Christophers dad has been in touch with me this morning.

We briefly discussed visitors seeing Chris. His dad Steve says:

"I told him people were asking about him and that they wanted to visit and got a definite NO from him, that was whilst he seemed aware of the situation so think it's best to leave it for a few days to see how things are. I managed to read the forum last night and was extremely heart warming, please pass on our thanks to everyone."

So there you have it - a massive thanks from Steve, Yvonne and David (Christophers younger brother) and a request to wait until they and most importantly Chris are happy for visitors.

In the light of day, Christophers bike doesn't look too bad.
All very repairable.
Once the clutch swtich was refittted, it fired into life straight away.

RH side, needs a new end can.
http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/3668/002pys.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/38/002pys.jpg/)

Rear sub frame is a tad bend,
Plastics I think can be recovered.
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8426/005wxt.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/3/005wxt.jpg/)

Nose cone took a big hit & head light unit is smashed, sub frame unknown as yet.http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2575/001tsg.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/88/001tsg.jpg/)

Needs a new radiator and a few little brackets want straightening. LH lowers are gone.
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/1582/003cs.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/200/003cs.jpg/)

Needs a complete foot peg, hanger, lever & possibly the front arm.
Fixer-Peg looks intact though ;)

Thats about it at first glance.
Forks look straight but can't be sure untill there off and checked.

Thanks again to TarmacTester36 for fetching it from the farm & for sweetening the farmer about the damage to the famers wall. =D>

Christophers bike can be stored for as long as it takes to make a desicion on what to do with it. I may have a few bits to start the repair off and I may start a thread in the wanted section for parts donations from you lovely .Org people.

Front forks look bent in that picture, run a straight line down the stanchions, the fork legs are not parallel. Also looks like the front subframe has taken a good bend to the right. The frame? From photo's, who knows.

What is it with Chris's and spending time in hospital? At least unlike Chris8886 it's unlikely that in Staffs he'll end up with a ladyboy physio who has a bit of a crush on him. But I can quite understand him not wanting any visitors right away - he's probably being made to wear paper underpants and a pair of old man slippers.

But when he is up to a visit perhaps he'd like me to take him on one of my special 'Chris Hospital' cakes. That's if I can get that far without Raving Mavis stealing it.

It's a triple layer chocolate fudge cake with chocolate icing. You get so many feel good endorphins from a slice it should remove the need for morphine. And it mashes up nicely as it's very gooey. It feeds 14 - 16 although Chris Numbers somehow managed to eat most of the one I made for him on his own and hid it in his locker when he had visitors.

Hey folks, another update from Chris's dad, just trying to keep this on topic.

Good updates - thank you..

I now appreciate more that Chris' parents must be very worried and he and his younger brother are their priority .

There will be time for us to visit at a later date .. especially as we all represent the hobby that has placed him in hospital in the first place and as has been said we bikers have an odd sense of coping humour over matters like this which maybe only Chris would understand.

It's just when something like this happens to "one of ours" we tend to think of Chris belonging to US .. I wish patience , hope and very best wishes to Chris and his family and have to say that Chris is one of the politest and respectful young men I have ever met , Intelligent and funny and is a credit to his parents.

GWS Chris , sort the insurance claim out then you can have a go on my VFR

Cheers for the updates Jen. Like I said my lady lives around the corner from the Hospital & I'm fighting the urge to go & see him.
As Quiff said, he is a nice lad, makes friends with everybody he meets. He's young, so hopefully should bounce back from this fairly quickly & my thoughts are with the family, so will respect their wishes & wait until they say it is ok to go.

Absolutely true Quiff, it's natural for us to want to rush to be there, especially those of us who know him well, but I think we're doing the right thing to wait until he's ready before we visit.

My lady lives around the corner from the Hospital & I'm fighting the urge to go & see him..

Even from Scotland I'm fighting the urge to go and see him!

Guys, even for me to read this is humbling, so I can only imagine how his folks must feel.

Chris has been for another scan today, so we are just awaiting results. If all is as expected (not sure what they are expecting be that improvement or no change?) the medical staff are talking about putting a care plan in place and transferring Chris to Chester which is much closer to home for him and his folks. I will keep you all updated as soon as I know.

Chris has spent most of today asleep - which at this stage is the best thing for him.

Its times like these, that you realise how precious your children are.
I'm sure at the moment all young Christopher needs is just that, his parents and family.. None of us on here really has the right to go, for the moment, no matter how close we think we may be.

I'm sure in time, he will heal enough to decide for himself when he wants other visitors. And in fairness, the org friends really will not be on his mind at the moment. I'm sure hes fine(as far as he can be for now), and in more than capable hands.

From Christopher's Dad this morning: "Yesterdays scan results show no further damage and neuro says no intervention is required, only time will tell if the damage is permanent, but they are hopeful things will be ok. No news on the transfer and Chris is still adamant that he doesnt want any visitors. Still just wants to sleep."

I have assured his dad that no-one will visit until Christopher and they are happy for us to do so. I've also said that many of us are thinking of him and wishing him well on his road to recovery.

I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding given the situation, you have all been wonderful.

Todays Update:

Christopher had a very mixed day yesterday was very up and down, quite emotional and at times in a lot of pain Back on stronger painkillers though he did manage to eat some dinner. Still adamant that he doesn't want any visitors.

Today Chris has been up and down and has no recollection of the accident. Waiting to see what physio's say later with regards to getting him up and the transfer back to Chester.

I'm sure many of you are, but please take a moment out of your day to send positive thoughts to Christopher, Steve and Yvonne.

I'd like to say at this moment in time, to Christophers parents, if there is anything myself or Pete may be able to say, or do, that might just give a little encouragement to him to rise from his bed, and grit his teeth to take a step today.........we are here in these pages. We are easy to find. I understand Bikes and bikers are the last people you want to see, but if any of us can help from afar, you've got us all here.

To christopher. Pete gets the feeling from what he has heard, and read, you may be feeling a little angry right now(hes old and smells of wee but used to be young once!)
In order for you to start on the road to your own recovery, you need to come to terms with what has happened, this is the difficult bit and you'll perhaps be trying to ignore it. You need to figure out how you are going to deal with things. Its ok if you take your time.
You can get better, he could prove that to you, might not feel like it right now, sitting on the end of the bed is not what you want to do, but, if you do it, things get better far quicker, than not wanting to.

When the pyhsio comes today, Sit at the end of your bed, grit your teeth, and sit there for a while, if you feel strong enough in mind and spirit, take a step, just one...........its bigger than you think;)

Can I add to Dizzy's comment above.
As you know I crashed over 3 years ago & broke my back & split my pelvis resulting in a metal plate holding it together at the front.
I am an old goat & for 2 weeks just didn't want to know anything about motorbikes at all, now look at me. Still an old goat, but ride every day, done track days & even raced since (not very well, but hey ho). My son placed a post on the org when it happened & I couldn't believe the posts from the folk on here, it helped a lot in my healing.

All I can say is think positive & this will help the healing process. You are a young chappy &, even if you never want to ride another bike again, it doesn't stop you having friends here that will help you every step of the way to your recovery.
I have said it before & will again, this is one of the friendliest sites on the internet, it's like having a big family & I think that I can speak for everybody that knows you (& some that don't) we are all here for you buddy. If you need anything, anything at all, just get in touch.

Get well soon dude, want to see you on another Chippy run, this is just a glitch, nothing else :)

Hey folks, was away this weekend to help me get my head together.

Latest updates:

Yesterday the physio's saw Chris but decided not to get him standing. He'd been a bit stubborn (well on his way to getting better then!) about taking his painkillers so was in a lot of pain. Had a settled night and slept a lot.

Today he hasn't eaten much and is still sleeping a lot, though he did take his painkillers and have some fruit smoothie.

Hopefully he keeps taking his pain killers regularly they'll get him up and moving which will all help on his road to recovery.

Sounds like young bones heal quickly. The nurses wouldn't let me sit up, never mind stand, for nearly 10 days.

19-09-11, 08:55 AM
I dont know the extent of the fractures to his pelvis but I'm guessing they are trying get him moving incase they set incorrectly. He probably wont be far off the ten day mark by the time he's standing. Today is day 9.

Besides he's probably bored senseless lying in that bed!

Hopefully today we'll hear some news about a transfer to Chester.

Will keep you all posted as soon as I hear anything.

I know it's tempting to phone the ward and find out information, but could we all please bear in mind that means his parents are having to talk to complete strangers, which can be quite difficult for them and I'd like to politely and respectfully ask that people wait for updates, they are coming from his dad to me and then straight on here.

Another update - physio's were in today to see Chris and once again had him sitting on the end of the bed. They are keen to get him standing, but Chris was in a lot of pain (understandably) so they're taking it steady. He didnt manage to stand today, but keeping him positive every little helps. It's just going to require time and patience.

I think his sense of humour is intact which will certainly help. :)

Wow. Been off the Org for a few weeks, busy with work stuff, but this is the first thing I read.

Hope Chris is OK, and continues to make a speedy recovery.

Not much more I can say or do really, will be thinking of him nd his family.

Good luck.

Just a quick response, would rather say thanks individually but I can't type much on this phone at the moment so this'll have to do!

Cheers for the comments and well wishes everyone, and to Jen for the random updates... half of which are new to me as well as I don't remember a great deal of the past however many days :P

And for the get well soon cards from those of you, means a lot :)

I've no recollection of the crash but would love to know how/why and any details. Likely my fault but right now I've no idea even what happened and no memory of anything after lunch in the Cat and Fiddle then waking up many days later being told I have metal holding one arm together and the other was dislocated and a tiny shoulder bone fractured. Also seem to recall being told I broke pelvic bone and whatever other damage done.

Ach well what's done is done, onwards with the boredom of recovery! Cheers again all, comments mean alot more than just this silly response may show so truly thank you for them, including any ****-taking ones ;)

Well done for getting off your lazy ar5e and walking today :-)

It's a relief to see a personal response from you after so many days with no first hand news from your direction. Jen's been doing a sterling job of keeping us informed, but nothing beats hearing from the man himself.

Keep it up mate and do as the medics tell you, that's the only route to a full recovery.

Hope to see you properly up and about soon.

Chris, you might not be able to remember anything after the Cat & Fiddle, but have you remembered where you left the Passport?

Good to hear from you chap. Mend well.
