Have always liked the Lightning.
Still the only solely British Mach 2 fighter. 1300 mph, 0 - 50,000 feet in a minute. Bloody loud.
Rather like the Typhoon [emoji16]

I can remember the Lightning from air displays when I was a kid and yes, it was very loud. Buccaneers weren't quiet either.
Interesting thing I read yesterday at the museum; the Lightning was mainly a cold war plane, built to intercept Russian bombers, hence the fast climb rate, but the only aircraft Lightnings ever shot down was a Harrier! The controls had gone, the pilot ejected but the plane remained in the air and was destroyed in case it crashed into a populated area.

Lightening blew the windows of the control tower doing a vertical climb on afterburners at my local aerodrome in the 1970s when it had a little air display. Fantastic but blooming loud
Finally thawed out from my ride home on Wednesday....

Spring floods in Shrewsbury. Poor daffs frozen and then drowned.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180406/93783c8cd1c4b634c39a1d09c8cd6405.jpg

Considering how often Shrewsbury floods I'm amazed daffs survive at all within half a mile of the Severn.
Luckily the river level rises quickly and drops back equally quickly so it's probably just a quick shock for the daffs.
Dropped in on the model show at cosford museum.

Thoses 262's look amazing.
Cosford is on my "should visit one day" list but not sure when I will get round to it. Hendon is much closer and is I believe also expensive to park but free to get in.

The 262 looks well ahead of its time. Luckily it arrived too late for Germany. I've not been to Hendon, but Cosford is not huge, much smaller than Duxford.
Very cool. I am off to Duxford myself on Thursday. Lots of cameras to try out!

Those lovely Morgans.
My grandad used to bomb about in one when he was alive (born in 1896 and died in 1969). He had them most of his adult life along with various motorbikes, but they weren't worth that much when ha had them. For him, proper Morgans had a big V twin stuck out the front. He always reckoned that when they put the engine under a bonnet, they stopped making proper Morgans!

I've seen one around here a few times, but not for a while. Pretty sure it was one of the newer ones but agree with you both - it looks like a real hoot. If I had to go three wheels and it was one of these, a CanAm or a HD it would for sure be a Morgan!

Couple from yesterday. 31 years ago in September a spotty 18 year-old went off to uni in Brighton. Fast forward to 2015 and his daughter did the same, although in her case it was to the lovely Sussex Uni whereas I had a cracking time at the more down market Brighton Poly. Said daughter will finish her studies in another month which makes me feel very old. When I was down there we used to regularly head over the road to the Sussex campus and use their union bar - the East Slope and, spookily, the Monkey spent her first year in halls right beside the very same bar. That part of the halls and the bar date from the 60s when the uni was built and they're pulling them down in phases this year to make way for newer and much nicer units. Which means our bar will disappear - tragedy! So, we had a farewell drinkie or three yesterday and to commemorate I had matching t-shirts made up. I was a bit wobbly getting the train back home again afterwards, but I did have a big smile on my face.

Came across this in the street today, not sure what it really is but looks like my kind of chocolate bar.
And I posted my divorce papers. No going back! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180506/0bc0b3b3039a5a097ace6a4119939306.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180506/e301523056cb67a552ad112fd004316a.jpg

Is that some sort of padded fabric LPH? It's clearly not chocolate or Lewis would be much more interested.

He's a dog, they cannot eat chocolate, it's toxic to them!
I overheard a guy on the train a few weeks back saying he'd come home drunk, opened some sweets, left them on the floor and stumbled off to bed. Overnight his dog ate them and died. Probably happens a lot.

Very true - choccie is toxic to dogs. But they're daft creatures and both of ours tried to get at any they could find as the smell drove them nuts. My mum once had a small bar in her knitting bag (?) which she left downstairs at our house one night. We came down next morning to find bits of yarn, needles, patterns and scraps of silver foil all over the floor as a fluffy twit had rootled this bar out (eventually) and eaten it along with most of the wrapping. Lady Poppy was terrified the dog was going to die but it was a very small bar of milk choc so not too bad. A 70% dark choc would have probably had a different outcome. The funnier side was there were bits of foil in her poop for days afterwards.
Dogs find many of our everyday foods toxic!onions!grapes!mushrooms to name just a few

If it's a big pr1ck you desire all you need do is just touch it.
And just like with a real man, you can get that for free, no need to pay some outrageous price and then be stuck with it forever. ;)

I don't even want to ride just now the flies and bugs are so disgusting. I completely cleaned all my gear and bike yesterday because they were covered. Then after just 20 miles today they look like this.
One even flew in the top vent and splatted on my internal visor when it was up inside the helmet

Although they are very annoying in the way they dig holes in my garden these things are getting braver and like posing for pictures. There is a group (pod, nest, whatever) living in next door's roof and another mob in the laurel hedge at the bottom of my garden but they love sitting at the top of a tree that next door ruined by having it pruned so much it died.
