Here we go.
My son bought his first DSLR after Christmas. He is fascinated by night photography. So the first with the new camera was...

Place your interesting photos here???
These are just boring photos that document my journey today.
Walking on the Moon
Finally today the surface of the planet warmed up after subfreezing temps we've had since before Christmas.
-20 the other night but a balmy 11 degrees (C) this afternoon so I donned my 1 legged sweatpants and moon boot
(what Americans call a huge boot held on by velcro straps they give you when you are injured) along with a light jacket and headed out onto the planet.
My first mission over uneven terrain with the Lunar Rover but we managed to make it safely out to the sheds.
To the sheds and beyond!
Despite markings on the Rover I made it back on the same day.
https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4670/24734492117_e043f2d8a8_c.jpg
Not only made it out to the sheds but fired up the SV and the quadbike and let them run for about 20 mins. to charge the batteries which was the ultimate mission today.
Even managed to hobble a few feet away for a pic.

Safely back aboard the mothership now. (aka: in the house)

The chefs prepared all the dishes today that will be served in the hospitality boxes and suites this summer and then they get feedback on it. I take photos for the operational manual, but I'm always encouraged to try the food too.
Today I'd already had lunch so I only tried the cheeses while chatting to the expert cheese supplier, a lovely French man, who was there to talk us through the various different cheeses on offer. He's invited me out to their place in Oxfordshire for a site visit.
This is only a sample of what we'll be having this summer, all prepared fresh each day on site. It also includes rare beef, duck, lobster, mussels, lamb, short rib, pork belly, squid, skate and vegetarian.

Is it worth it for an old Canon 400d?
Littlepeahead
21-02-18, 06:46 PM
I have done, but usually when it's needed a repair to an L series lens. There is an approved Canon service centre near me. I have the sensor cleaned and things like the zoom rollers and lens mounts replaced.
For a 400D probably not worth it unless there's something specifically wrong with it. A sensor clean may be worth the money, then do everything you can afterwards not to get dust on your sensor!

Yes the town is a dump and has been for a while, but at least its on the up with the new complex being built on the main drag.
Thankfully I'm only there once in a while, but there is something I like about it. Probably because I was born in Hythe, so I'm a Man of Kent not a Kentish Man :-)

Took my camera to the Photo Show today but hardly used it. There were a few set scenes for people to have a go at but they were four of five deep so I walked on past. See my Gripe entry about the oddballs in Cosplay also at the NEC - I deliberately took NO pics of those irritating corridor blockers.

First real ride on the SV since I broke my leg in November.
It was only 60 miles but a pleasant ride on our first warm sunny day
in a while so i couldn't resist.
Mostly on small country lanes to avoid traffic and keep the speed down.
Wearing jeans and trainers is not my favorite way to ride a motorcycle but
still unable to get the hulk foot (still swollen) into a boot or anything other
than an 'wide as they make them' size trainer so it was a good ride for lazy
shifting as the big foot proved a bit clumsy at times.

Nice, you wouldn't have done any ride in the UK, as the beast part 2 has stopped any fun

Great picture Bill, can just feel the sunshine and warmth of it. Lucky man.
Hope your foot reduces in size soon so you can get your boots back on.
A bit of motorcycle therapy works wonders for the soul (and the foot). I'm desperate to get out for a proper ride on my bike but it's under a foot of snow at the moment.

Same here John, except that mines shut in the garage. Having that ride in the warm sunshine last Tuesday and then regressing to the current vile weather has just made things worse it seems!

Not the best of days for a vintage car and bike show but it was an excuse to get out for a while.
Sadly, only 2 bikes. I thought B&W might add a bit of a 'period' feel.
