Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I use the vehicle smart app for this, don't rely on the DVLA (or the post office) to be competent.

Re: 1984

The real question is why did the Democrats let this happen? They had several years to get this ban in place. If they had done it a year ago, it wouldn't matter what Trump did today.

Either they...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I was going to type out something similar but not many people have a mega lying around at home.

Only way to "prove" it's ok is to stick a known good one in and see if you get the same result.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Diagnosis from a distance is difficult but the symptoms sound like a faulty element.
Disconnect the element, it's likely to be permanently short to earth now, so powering it will just blow the...

Re: What was the last CD you bought...

Got the Mrs the last "Take That" CD, it was on her Christmas list.

We don't have a CD player...

Not even in the car or PC & the PS5 doesn't play CDs [emoji1787]
We can still play vinyl though...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

The microwave body acts as a Faraday cage for WiFi. So yes, it should block the signal.

What I don't remember from my physics study 40 years ago is how big a "hole" is needed to leak the...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

If you have a small neon bulb (ne-2 or equivalent) you can test for microwave leaks.

If the neon flickers you have a leak.

If the neon doesn't flicker you may not have a leak [emoji1787]

Re: Auto-Clutch Conversion

Is changing to a semi-automatic bike an option?

e.g. https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/gb/en/motorcycles/y-amt/

Not cheap though.

Re: Auto-Clutch Conversion

My knowledge is a little light, but what I've read about them suggests the work by "centrifugal force".

Low revs engage the clutch, high revs disengage the clutch. So to change gear you roll off...

Re: I indicator flash rate...

Heat reduces resistance.

Lower resistance faster flashing.

Something is warming up too much.

Does moving both bulbs to the other side move the problem?

Try running another wire from the...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Modified the Oxford grips to work from the built-in controller without paying Yamaha an obscene about of money for the privilege.

Oxford grips £70 + £2.50 for the connectors.
Yamaha wanted £210

Re: Electric Vehicles

Saw that video.

It's no different from engine braking albeit a bit more severe.

If you're the correct distance behind and paying attention. It isn't an issue.

Re: K4 Sv650 will not start

So the alarm could be a red herring.

Let's look at the fuse blowing.
I'd start disconnecting live from the fuel pump (at the pump end) and testing the resistance between the pump terminal (you've...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Could have a look at the state of the intake manifold, may be clogged up and not letting enough flow over the MAS.

It's a symptom of the EGR system introducing soot and the crackcase vent mixing...
