Very true.
I had a similar problem with my car insurance last time round. After finding the cheapest via a comparison site I called the company to take the offer and they went back through the details with me and then added c.£100 to the quote. Their explanation didn't hold as all the information I gave them on the phone was the same as what I had written. They held fast until I threatened them with the ASA and then I got the price I was quoted...
