The airbox was off originally. Though that wouldn't have caused the bigger issues I had with the open vacuum pipe. However the airbox is now back on, with a new and oiled filter. Yes I need to adjust the idle again to compensate, but the starting is still a problem. It wants to start but will only when one of the carbs is blocked off, this is the problem I'm now at.

As for the pilot air jets, I did have them out and cleaned the first time and they were clear. The second time I just blew them out with compressed air along with the rest of the carb.
