Part 8; Getting In Gear:
While I've got the engine in this state I thought I'd do a couple of mods to it. Firstly the gear shifting. I understand that there is a kit out there that replaces the shift star mechanism to provide more solid changing and reduce the chance of false neutrals. Sounds like a good idea, but at some $200 dollars or so I decided to opt for the cheaper option, a K5 shift star, arm and spring.
For comparison the the K5 is at the top and the original is at the bottom.
And installed.
While I was there a set of EBC Heavy Duty Clutch plates went in.
Followed by the Heavy Duty Springs.
