Just looking round the bike I spotted this little gem waiting to cause me issues in the near future on Sunday. This was under the LHS rear fairing, check out how the rubbing has nearly (and maybe has) gone through to the wires just by the action against the frame.

Yes indeed 5hort5, that's one of the well known chafing points. Well photographed there, all curvey owners take note as advised.

Yep that one gave me problems on my old curvy. Gave me issues with the left rear indicator. Solved it with a combination of re-routing and insulating tape.
Out of interest which year do you have? As from what I remember that wire is routed differently on my '99 compared to my '00. Its routed in such a way that it shouldn't be a problem on the '00, unless it was moved post assembly to add the alarm... |

Very nice! I'll have mine apart anyway in a few days, I'll have to check this.

While in there, check behind both the rider seat fixing bolts, that's the other well known chafer. The bolts are slightly too long and can hit the harness behind the frame.

So what other rubbing points are there on a curvy, embee has stated the seat fixing bolts, are there any others? I'll go and photo and post the lot on my bike whilst it's in bits, it's not in the best of shapes so if any bike has an issue this one will.

under the tank mounting bracket, of all curvy's and on the retaining bar around the yokes on the naked (its the curved metal that looks a bit like a coat hanger)

I suspect that the loom was mounted differently on some of the year’s bikes. My ’00 doesn’t appear to have any chaffing problems so far, yet my ’99 did. Apart from the riders seat bolt and the one 5hort5 has pictured I’ve also seen some rubbing right at the end of the sub frame by the rear light cluster. Rubbing was from the loom being trapped between the sub frame and the undertray.
One other thing to note though which makes me suspect Suzuki knew about these problems is when I was looking at AllenTheBoss’ ’01 his loom by the riders seat was tucked well out of the way of the seat bolts reach… |

Perhaps this is why my rear indicators have mood swings. That was until one blew a bulb, I was most suprised that all the glass had been blown out of the bulb.
