Question Blinking, (flashing), brake lights?

I know this has been brought up before as I have searched the forums but I cant for the life of me find a answer to my question and i am really considering fitting one for my own safety more then anything as i spotted one on a car the other day and it defiantly made it stand out

Flashing break lights I know that there illegal to have as break lights but if you want to convert your 3rd break light you can have it flashing singing and dancing... all perfectly legally
However bikes don't have a 3rd break light so really my question is has anyone got reports of times when they have been pulled over and told off or if you reckon you can make a 3rd break light and argue it out with the old fuzz

on a lot of new cars the brake lights flash repeatedly if the driver brakes very hard. The car senses the deceleration rate and flashes the brake flights when the braking is rapid (like an emergency stop)

Oddly enough was reading a poster in my local bike tyre shop that also do MOT's today. The short answer is they are illegal and will not pass an MOT as if the brake light flashes then it fails as it shouldn't. Some cars have them fitted as standard and are covered by different rules. There was nothing to say the number of lights you can have so I would read it as, "if any flash it failles".

If you want to stick on another brake light and make it flash knowing it won't pass an MOT and is illegal than thats your choice. I would only ask why you want a 3rd flashing brake light anyway?

It is illegal unless your bike is manufactured with them

Dare I suggest hazard lights if you're stopping abruptly? :-/
