In the S&WS area dude you need to give people a bit more warning than 2 hours, hell, we used to have monthly meets in South Wales and even then that was hard work.

Mainly because of Andy mind you...

I doubt that's the problem. I almost didn't post a messsage at all because I thought no one would read it. And yours is the first response, which says a lot.

I'm just still staggered that there seems to be either very few members in this region or very few who use the site regularly, otherwise maybe a few others would have said "can't make Monday, how about Wednesday?".

Its been sunny every day this week but no other messages from anyone in this region about having a bit of a rideout. Maybe people are just happy to have a Barbie and a beer in the back garden after work ...

I know what you mean, I used to go for a long ride-out after work every day last summer. Used to ride the A48 from Cardiff to Newport, bugger about on the SDR for about an hour then head up towards Brecon, but, the 600 mile round trip would cripple me from where I am now.

There are people in this area, but, I think this has got to be the largest regional room, aside the Scottish room, but, that is 'cause no-one lives up there (density speaking.)

S&WS covers from deepest darkest Cornwall in the west to Portsmouth/Southampton in the East to up around Gloucester on to South Mid-Wales and South Wales.

The E.A.G. I am now haunting only really covers Norfolk, Suffolk and some of Cambridgeshire. Essex has it's own region and any further west than Cambridge and you're in with the Mad-landers.

It might be just me, but, I feel the S&WS room has an "older" demographic when it comes to populous. Someone has said it before, people have busy lives and the older you get the more true this becomes. Hell, I even had to move away. I would give anything to be back in God's country, but, life has a way of fecking you about. I'll be back, but, not any time soon.

Keep trying, people perk up every now and then, but, I have never known it to be massively active in SW&S.

Used to be David (Hovis), Steve (MetalAngel), Andy (BlueCurveyJester), Tel and myself in and around the Caerphilly/Cardiff area.

But, David passed away, Steve is moving back to Canada, Tel is a busy man, the less said about Andy the better and I am not there no more, so, you see the issues.

There are new people coming in all the time, you can't have failed to notice FemaleAcid in and around along with DrewDrew & Dkid.

So, just got to try and get all the people in the area to meet at the same time in the same place.

As a famous Meerkat says "Simples"

I am unfortunately occupied with with moving, the bike is up on fleabay (though I hope to use it this weekend). I did go for a few short notice rides with Hovis back in the day but that was because I happened to be finishing work when he was heading out so it was coincidence and luck as much as anything.

You notice how rarely we get a 'result' in the Eyeballs thread, I think there's a lot of SV owners around here but not many on the org.

Don't get disheartened, if you're ever going out there's no harm in posting just in case.

As CA said SW&S covers a big area. For me to get over there is about an hour on the Motorway. Thats not to say I won't as I do, have, and will, but not as much as I used to like when I lived in Bristol. Also I would need a bit more notice than 2 hours as the timings I keep at work don't really allow for that type of short notice ride.

But a weekend Saturday/ Sunday full day ride is something I am happy to come over for with a bit of notice. As there are some nice roads over there like the one I showed you last time...

Yeah, that was a blast. The views up the mountain were stunning (still haven't got round to finishing off the editing but will post as soon as). Edit: that road must remain a secret

I do get it and I know the argument has been made to split the area but the decision was not to for various reasons. To be fair the post was more aimed at anyone close by. I wouldn't be riding to the Weston Bike meet every week, even though I'd like to experience it, because its too far out of the way for me.

I'll keep posting on the off chance as I'm a bit overexcited with the good weather at the minute. Even blew off the Olympic football yesterday to get out and ride (worth it) although my rubber is seriously squaring after all the abuse (worth it???).

Well I'm always looking for an opportunity to go for a ride so if anyone's up for it send me a PM or text 07728834669.

If you're "squaring" your tyres you either have them on the wrong pressure or are not taking in enough corners, both are reprehensible acts!

No no, its partly to do with my euro trip - France to Barcelona and back and long days riding on very good but straightish roads - and partly with the fact that I have to do a Bristol run twice a week on the godforsaken motorway. Only way to get through it is to do so quickly, which is not conducive to rounded tryes.
