Bike Stand/Dolly's

OMO,

Does anyone have a bike stand or dolly, the type the makes the bike moveable rather then an abba.

What options are out there ? the ones below are the kind of thing im talking about !

Do you want something to help you work on the bike (ie wheels raised) or just to make it easier to move around?

He wants it to move around, he's just had a garage built and the narrow access limits his entry point. Having a trolly like this means he could move the bike inside, then over to the side with ease. Although I'm not sure the castors will roll well on the carpet.

I've been looking at things like this due to a lack of space in the garage. I've been adopting a low-tech solution so far of picking the RGV up and lifting it into position. Wouldn't fancy trying that with the FireBlade though.

My mate made something similar. Pop the centre stand on it then balance both wheels off the ground and move it wherever you want. If the bike doesn't have a centre stand you could put the back wheel on it, push the nose of the bike where you want it, then swivel the back end round.

As above really the primary use would be to move the entire bike to make more floor space. but will be used when working on it.

as matt said I do have carpet down so i need to be able to give the bike a good shove and the wheels/casters need to give decent ground clearance. although the carpet is not exactly fluffy.

and pressent i like the look of the red 'T' dolly.

I use the Clarke MCD1 Motorcycle Dolly from Machine Mart or the red 'T' dolly. If you want one get it on the VAT free days.

I use mine to keep bikes out of the way up against the wall. You wouldn't believe the difference in space you get by having the bike on one of these. No matter how close you can manoeuvre it on its wheels you'll never get it as close as when its on this.

You get used to loading and unloading the bike from it but the dolly can move a little even when in the locked position as its not easy to get both ends raised once the bike is loaded.

Working on the bike with it on the dolly is fine though as it is on wheels keep that in mind. I only do little bits if the bike is on one and take it off onto a paddock stand if I'm doing serious stuff.

You have good ground clearance and the wheels seam sturdy. However I don't know how it would cope on carpet, my garage floor is painted concrete. Overall I'm very happy with my dolly's but I use them primarily for storage and space management not as an everyday load and unload.
