hi all....i recently posted asking for before and after pics of an undertray on a curvy....hovis and others had some good stuff /pics done where they just chopped the original down and it looked very good.....my reply was "yea ill have a tinker with original see what i can do"...
truth is i would be useless at this..totally **** it up and prob ruin my bike....office boy...rubbish with hands...(unless a lady/ladies are involved...better get that in!) anyway i know its chheeky but wondered if any of the .org'ers near to bristol has done this and enjoyed it and fancied doing it to mine?? (2000 curvy - blue) id obviously travel to you...pay any parts costs and throw a few beer tokens your way?? so there we go....not expecting a huge response...if any...but dont ask dont get!!! Thanks in advance Dappa ![]() |

I've still got the template from when i did mine, or if you wanna do a cheap way get a dremmel, take all the excess plastic away, fit mini indies.
If you get stuck i can help you out. |

Cuffys right the Dremel option sounds the best. Are Strechie did it once with a bread knife (not 'the' bread knife thats something different) so if he can do it then you must be able to.

As Squirrel said, I attacked mine..
I was young, stoopid and full of beer. At my sisters house I took the undertray off and cut the big plastic bit off with a breadknife (good job my sister was out or I'd have got battered) then got a plate hanger and attached the plate. Then a few weeks later I tidied it with a dremel (thanks Dr Rich) and sprayed it with primer, blue paint and then laquered it (thanks Halfords). I'm cheap and cheerful and thought it was alright. Deffo better than paying £200+ for a proper undertray but it depends how much of a tart you are, I'll try and find some pics for you. Feel free to PM me, where are you mate?

you dont need any brackets, as the plate bolts on to where the NO.plate light was.
which makes the plate look a bit flat? i would have made a spacer to kick the bottom out. but i could not be bothered what size plate will you be using? as my NO. plate is illigal i had no number plate light which may fail MOT (i knew the guy would pass mine though) no reflector again could fail MOT i think it would look odd with STD indys but, i liked it i could come and point and laugh when it all goes wrong oh, you have to take the tail section off. probaly looking at 1 hour max Last edited by hovis; 10-07-08 at 11:57 AM. |

If you need a dremmel i can get my hands on one from work, i have a garage to work in too.
This is the mod i done to my old SV. Before. ![]() After. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have gone down the dremmel route on the triumph, ok it doesn't look as tidy as the SV but it still looks better than the fugly lump of plastic and dirty great big indies that was on their before. Before: ![]() After: ![]() ![]() Drop me a PM if you need any help. Cheers Cuffy |
